  • Personal Statement

    The first set of lyrics from "Play the Game" by Queen go like this....

    "Open up your mind and let me step inside...

    Rest your weary head and let your heart decide...

    It's so easy.... when you know the rules...

    It's so easy.... all you have to do is fall in love...

    Play the game... everybody play the game... of love."

    Sometimes I think these words are poignant to how I feel about my writing. I want to take a reader to a different universe, to another way of life. Can love flourish? Can love save all?  As you read, let my words carry your imagination away, to somewhere that dares ask the question, "What if?"  And then let your heart decide if the narrative tale I weave gives you the final answer.

    Things about me:

    I. I am happily married with four kids.

    2. I'm a Nana ( grandmother)

    3. I believe in integrity and hard work.

    4. I"m an honest soul and speak with a soft voice.

    5. Sometimes I try too hard to make a friend or to be heard. Most times I"m overlooked.

    6. I believe in love and I believe in God. I believe it all intertwines.

    7. There's a higher power up there and one day, he'll take me home.

    8. I love to share: a smile, a hug, friendly advice, and good recipes!

    9. I love my pets, two chiujauja's, Tiny and Bella, and a Jack Russell Retriever named Layla. My daugher also owns a Sugar Glider and occasionaly I'll feed it, but if it chirps at me, it scares me!

    10. I love music!

    My book lays to rest

    On a silent printing press

    It has nowhere to go

    Your order never showed.

     

    The story will never flow

    The ending you’ll never know

    Its message remain obscure

    For marketing it, I failed to lure.

     

    My imagination sprung to life

    A challenged hero, a disgruntled wife

    Disheartened friends, jealousy and strife.

    In-between pages are lessons learned

    By all whose hearts were spurned.

     

    Children are ties that bind

    Wayward stubborn minds.

    Resolution all will seek.

    Love and honor come for the meek.

    Triumphant for those who took a chance

    To find life can sometimes be a dance.

     

    When death strikes a family unaware

    Courage and perseverance they ensnare

    Bitter heartbreak brings transformation

    to conquer familiar haunting destinations.

    So those Hostage to Her Heart can restart

    Anew, and still are Falling for Heart.
