Alright. Here's the scoop on me, as of Dec. 28, 2007:
- I "stole" my hubby from a friend of mine back in 1992. We've been married since 1995.
- I work from home/telecommute as a technical writer while I care for my daughter. This is a great opportunity, but it's also lonely, boring, and isolated, with a lot of long hours.
- CafeMom is my main connection to the outside world, so yeah, I'm addicted.
- Hubby and I want to build a new home on our property, but we must first sell our current home... in this lousy market.
- I love getting out of the house, especially on weekends. We go camping as a family quite a bit.
- I am a big Disney fan, and I am very excited to have passes to Disney World this year.
- Alyssa will be our one and only child for a number of reasons.
- My first pregnancy ended in a miscarriage. It was heartbreaking, but Alyssa was conceived only a couple of weeks afterward.
- I developed pre-eclampsia when I was 35 weeks pregnant and was hospitalized for 10 days before being induced.
- I am a Catholic and sing in my church choir. I joined the choir when I was pregnant with Alyssa, primarily to ensure that I attend church every week. (It's not easy to "skip" when people are counting on you!) I love it!
- I have 2 cats, who are about 8 years old. They are your typical fickled felines.

T
hree cheers for Alyssa Catherine, 2, who used the potty like a big girl! After a week of Basic Training, Alyssa decided to give the big potty at a friend's house a try.
"I'm so proud of my Alyssa!" Alyssa's mommy said, "Even though we weren't at home, she let me know she had to go #1 and #2 on the potty. With a little luck and a lot of practice, I think Alyssa will master the potty by the holidays!"
As a special reward, Alyssa got a toy shopping spree, in which she picked out a Mickey Mouse Clubhouse bandstand.

I went to Walmart tonight before seeing your message about the doll.O h well I am sure to going there for yet more school supplies soon.My oldest started middle school and every day he needs something else.Thks for the idea:-)
She uses a big potty downstairs but a little one upstairs.I did alot or reading on CM last night and got alot of good ideas but one thing they said was if it is a battle of wills which it is to back off so maybe whne she starts preschool next week she will get motivated by the other kids. I will ask her to get her doll to potty though great idea.
Yeah, we do use those when they are available. The only thing there is that she's already made the negative association with ALL public restrooms. Even if the flush doesn't end up being so loud! *sigh*...I'm just gonna have to be patient with her, I guess. LOL!!
So..is Alyssa still going strong?? :D
We actually have a fold-up / travel seat cover that she won't even use at home! She's actually afraid of the loud noise of the public toilets flushing (SO LOUD!!)..and the fact that most of them have sensors so they just go off randomly. I read somwhere that you can stick a post-it note over the sensor BUT even if the one next to us goes off she freaks out. (Cont. below...)
This has been going on for a LONG time. When she was only a few months old, and I would have to use the bathroom, the sudden noise would FREAK HER OUT!! It's just always been a strong fear for her. Then add that to the speech delay, meaning that I can't "explain" things to her, and I'm kind of stuck. :-( I don't want to traumatize her. I thought about getting her a travel potty chair to keep in the car when she gets a little more consistent.
