Hello, and welcome to my profile page here at Café Mom :)
I sometimes think I am the luckiest woman in the world. Other times I know it.
We live on a farm in rural Nova Scotia, Canada, close to New Brunswick, with the most wonderful man on the planet. We have five children that we homeschool, and we both work from home, but we are definitely not homebodies! We love to travel, and plus, with the entire family in dance classes, it sometimes seems like I am never home! I always wanted to be a ballerina as a child, but my mom told me I was too tall...now I know that it was really because we were too poor! LOL But now, after over a decade of chronic pain and walking with a limp due to fibromyalgia, I am pain free and taking ballet lessons! I feel so blessed and love to share my story, so go ahead and ask!
We have sheep, geese, ducks, goats, chickens, cows and a new Dexter Dairy Cow - Ebony - and her calf named Pippy (born July 2011). The Dexter cows came from Ontario, to replace Penny who died this summer :( - Penny was a Purebred Jersey, and apparently, they are prone to milk fever. She succumbed shortly after the birth of her second calf, and rather than having a ton of milk this summer, we've had to buy our organic milk at the grocery store and it's nearly $7 for 2 litres! ...honestly, I don't know how people manage to feed their families at grocery store prices!
We are having a hard time with Ebony, and it looks like we'll still need to buy milk at the store until her calf is old enough to have her own calves, so the Dexter cows have taken on a longer term investment status, and we've decided to get another Jersey. Sinceand look at the Dexter breed as a future investment...they are a smaller breed and we've already had interested parties inquiring about calves, and when Pippy is finally bred and milking, she will be used to being handled and should be a great little milk cow...we've pretty much given up hope on Ebony, though...she kicks!
I miss fresh butter and cheese...my DH makes the most FABULOUS cheese!

Thank you for asking. I am doing ok. My husband and I are planning a time for me to get away from the house. My mother is going away and I am going to house set for 10 days. It should give me a break and hopefully help me not to be so depressed.
Hey girl would it be okay to reschedule for this weekend? Sometime in the evening? My husband's friend & coworker was in a tragic head on collision & passed away last night. And with the move today. Let me know girl which day this weekend is good for you. Thanks & hugs Krista.
