I sat on my couch looking at my 5 week old son nursing, and thought about only having one more week before going back to my supervisor position for a world wide corporate company. In addition to the 9 hours I put in at the office, it is a 3 hour round trip commute. I had a dilemma, I just couldn't imagine having only 1 more week and then letting someone else literally raise my son. How do you pick the right person? How do you decide how many other children should share the attention of the care giver? How do you know by meeting someone once or twice that they will be a good candidate to share in this huge responsibility?
Well... I sat on that couch holding my baby with tears running down my face until my husband came home. He walked in the door took one look at me and dropped everything in worry. All I could say is "I just can't do it" I know he was thinking what in the heck is she talking about. A million things were running through his head of what I could possibly mean. (We all know we are a bundle of emotions after a pregnancy) but back to the point, I looked at him and again said "I just can't do it, I just cannot let someone else raise our son."
These emotions were so new to me, before getting pregnant I really thought that I would not have children (I mainly didn't think I wanted them) and now here I sit son attached to my boob acting like a mama bear protecting her cub.
This was a huge decision on many levels, will I be able to STAY HOME after gearing my life towards my job, will I be a good mom, how will we survive when we had gotten used to a combined nearly 6 figure income? By the end of the night, we made the decision together that I would stay home, and we would have faith that everything else will be alright.
It wasn't very long before we started to feel the financial strain, we cut back where we could, and after getting used to the new routine(LOL) of having an infant, I began to toy with the idea of doing something from home. I could make a laundry list (where does that saying come from anyway and what is the true origin/meaning behind it?) of all the companies and ideas that I considered and/or tried. Home parties didn't work because my husbands schedule was never the same, I could never book shows because of that and because I felt so bad asking my friends to buy stuff they didn't want or need. I just wound up giving up for a few years.
Then... we got into a position and we didn't have healthcare!!!!! I was appalled, I had never been in that position, and now I have a family, I have medication I have to take everyday, AND NO INSURANCE!!!!!! I was on a mission to figure this situation out, we could not afford $1000.00/month that Oxford wanted, and thank GOD that I picked up the newspaper that gets delivered to my driveway each week for free (I NEVER READ THE NEWSPAPER!) I found an ad for Ameriplan, went to the website that very night, and did all the research I could. I talked with everyone I knew about it because I had never heard of it before. Then I requested more information online.
The woman that called me back was as nice as nice can be, answered all of my questions, and in the midst of the conversation I realized she was working from her home. I asked her about that, and thought to myself well heck I have already spoken with everyone I know about this, and I know at least half a dozen of those people need the healthcare too!
Thus began my home based career with Ameriplan (well after a week I think of grilling my enroller LOL) I have been doing this for more than a year and a half around the schedule of my family, and it provides me with an income that is well worth the time I put in.
This is my story, thank you for taking the time to get to know me a little better, and please send me a message so I can get to know you too.
