as for most kids from what our ped said....once they get their buds, it could be up to a yr before periods start. She was right on. My 12 yr old started her buds at 10 amost 11 and got her period right before she turned 12. She has had three so far in a yrs time. She will be 13 in april. Good luck just let her know that a period can start out brown as well as red, so she doesnt freak if she sees brown and is expecting red.
