I am 30 years old and this summer it will be 13 years I have been married to my high school sweetheart Jeff. I had our first son Jeffrey when I was 17. It was tough in the beginning but well worth it. Jeffrey is such a sweet boy with a big heart. Then came Kaylee, our little diva. She is the ultimate girly girl. We thought we were all done having children and then 9 years later came our little Alexa. While I was pregnant they found that she had a blockage in her intestines called Duodenal Atresia. After several ( and I do mean several) level 2 ultrasounds the doctors felt confident that is was not a chromosomal defect. Well I had Lexi 7 weeks early and right after she was born the doctor told us that she had some characteristics of down syndrome. We were in complete shock. I just really thought that since I was young, healthy and since we had no disabilities on either side of our family that we had nothing to worry about. You always think that this sort of thing happens to other people and will never happen to you.
I do have to say that Lexi came out beautiful. She really had the most perfect little features. She has really completed our family and brought so much joy to our life. Lexi is pretty lucky too because she has a brother and sister that absolutely adore her. Jeffrey and Kaylee are always getting on the floor to entertain her while she is doing tummy time. Or snuggling her while giving her a bottle.
When I'm not running around after the kids I love going out for date night with my husband. It's so nice to get out and reconnect with no interruptions. I also enjoy getting together with friends and family. It seems like there is always something going on at our house and I wouldn't have it any other way. Although don't get me wrong I do enjoy a lazy Sunday afternoon laying around watching Lifetime movies
I work 4 days a week from home and that has really been a god send in itself. I wish I didn't have to work at all but this is really the next best thing.
Well I think that just about sums it all up. I look forward to getting to know you all and sharing our experiences of our little miracles.
Hi there! We're doing great. My DD started middle school this year and that is our biggest struggle (SO much work, new school, earlier start...). As for Alex, he loves school! Johnny too. When I get my DD off to the bus each morning, I feel like I've run a marathon! Hope things are great up your way!
