I'm the wife of one, mother of two and nana of three. My youngest has Autism as well as other disabilities. He is living in his own apartment now so we are empty-nesters and loving it. I've been married 25 years this April 25th...special significance? I'm having bilateral jaw surgery on March 1st...a year long ordeal that is finally going to take place. I'll eventually be able to eat normal foods again! I'm getting so tired of mashed potatoes and blended foods. Eye appeal does make a difference in most foods and a blender doesn't lead to good eye appeal. I'm a writer and currently writing a book about Autism and the journey we have made. It will be published this year and it's title is Jeremiah's Journey, Gaining Our Autistic Son by Losing Him to the System. We had to do the unthinkable and let DHS step in and take over in order to get the help he desperately needed. A tough and rough two years with a positive and happy outcome. Our oldest has blessed us with three beautiful grandbabies ages 3, 5 and 9. They live out of state which makes it difficult to keep in contact. Thank heavens for Skype...we talk at least once a week. My husband, Joe, is my hero and best friend. I'm bipolar and wouldn't have made it this far without his love and support.
