I am a 42-year-old grandma with legal guardianship of 5-year-old twins.  I had my kids the "easy" way - adoption.  They were my husband's from his 1st marriage & I could not have children of my own.  When we were married, I adopted his 2 children.  The oldest (mother of the twins) has a lot of Mental Illnesses including FAS (Fetal Alcohol Syndrome) - everything umbrellas down from there.  Both the twins' parents have Severe & Persistent Mental Illnesses which is why I have guardianship since their birth. Neither parent can take care of themselves let alone twins.  Both twins have their fair share of disabilities including:  MR/DD, PICA, Behavior DIsorders, GI & digestive problems, Severe Asthma & Allergies & the Dominant Twin Syndrome.
