Federal officials said they're faced with tough choices because wild horses have overpopulated public lands in the West and they no longer can afford to care for the number of animals that have been rounded up.
But Heyde maintained the agency is seeking a "magic bullet" for budget problems caused after it began rounding up the mustangs at an unprecedented rate in recent years.

HOW CAN WE LET OUR FEDERAL GOVT BE SO IRRESPONSIBLE THAT IT COMES DOWN TO KILLING "excess" MUSTANGS?

ah yes, if the gov't messes something up (taking wolves off BLM land) than the only reasonable way to cover up their mistake is killing... but wasn't it a few years ago that some dumb-ass drunk Marines where dishonorably discharged and sent to jail for killing these horses? Double standerds... I can't fanthom how killing the Mustangs is going to help. Set up adoption programs , that are honest and not over priced like the BLM prgrams, and let the horses live.

As far as the OT:
Turquoise5 I think this is horrible. Why can't we find some other solution to this problem? Like donating the horses to farms or zoos. Killing them can't be the only option. -
Can we just leave the wild animals alone. It's the Wild Wild West. Please consider adoption. The horse is a beautiful animal, domestic or not. F
