The Origin of the Palestine-Israel Conflict

cache.search.yahoo-ht2.akadns.net - This paper outlines the history of Palestine to show how this process occurred and what a moral
solution to the region's problems should consist of. If you care about the people of the Middle
East, Jewish and Arab, you owe it to yourself to read this account of the other side of the
historical record.

One further point: being Jewish ourselves, the position we present here is critical of Zionism but
is in no way anti-Semitic. We do not believe that the Jews acted worse than any other group
might have acted in their situation. The Zionists (who were a distinct minority of the Jewish
people until after WWII) had an understandable desire to establish a place where Jews could be

masters of their own fate, given the bleak history of Jewish oppression. Especially as the danger
to European Jewry crystallized in the late 1930's and after, the actions of the Zionists were
    propelled by real desperation.
But so were the actions of the Arabs. The mythic "land without people for a people without land"
was already home to 700,000 Palestinians in 1919. This is the root of the problem, as we shall
    see

since i know few others will read and comment on this, i feel it's ok to have a personal conversation with you about it.

i used to believe that the israeli/palestinian conflict was so old and convoluted that it was impossible for anyone to decipher any wrong-doing or blame. i believed it was an ancient religious war with roots as old as history itself and that there can never be peace (so i shouldn't waste my time worrying about it). that's really what i was taught. it wasn't until about 4 years ago when i decided that i was tired of not understanding why so many people were being killed on such a regular basis (it was all i heard about on the bbc) i started reading books about the histories of each. it didn't take long to realize i had been lied to (or maybe, these people didn't really understand but didn't want to admit it, so that's just what they told me?).

one thing i don't really understand (although i have an idea). how is zionist israel powerful enough to be able to manipulate what i'm taught in public school? where does aipac get it's muscle?

It gets it's power from the good old USA. Along with billions of our tax dollars. The UN has put a bunch of resolutions against Israel for various reasons and the US always veto's them.

For the temple...Evangelicals have a lot of power.

And actually my son learned about Palestine/Israel conflict this last school year and he told me that Israel stole their land. I asked him, if the teacher told him that, and she did not say it like that, but that was he concluded from her teachings.

chaiteme - that is awesome!! does your son go to public school?

yeah, the temple, evangelicals... by power, you must mean money - do they really have THAT much?? my dad keeps trying to explain that it has everything to do with centralized banking (including the war in iraq). and that it just so happens that a few of the top "bankers" are zionists. i can't find any solid literature on the subject and i have a hard time not letting my eyes glaze over when i hear something so conspiratorial...

I Feel the SAME WAY. I didn't know a lot about this conflict, other than what I was taught here in the US school system... old religious conflict... But, I have recently begun researching it more for clarification. And as for the centralized banking conspiracy, this is the third time I have heard that from someone. I may have to read up on this theory more~
