McCain said to choose Alaska gov as running mate. - Yahoo! News

news.yahoo.com - DENVER - John McCain tapped little-known Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin to be his vice presidential running mate, two senior campaign officials told The Associated Press on Friday.

A formal announcement was expected within a few hours at a campaign rally in swing-state Ohio.

Palin, 44, is a self-styled hockey mom and political reformer who has been governor of her state less than two years.

Palin's selection was a stunning surprise, as McCain passed over many other better known prospects, some of whom had been the subject of intense speculation for weeks or months.

I knew he would choose a woman to appease the Clinton supporters. I must give him credit for a great strategy. A lot of people will not vote the issues, but for a woman.

She has more executive experience than Obama's entire ticket. This just finally got interesting.

He's pandering. Anyone who thinks he picked her because over her "experience" is delusional.

Doubt he did - cause it doesn't take much to have more than the other two.

No he didn't pick her for her experience. She's a woman. He couldn't go with the status quo white guy, he had to go with a minority. I figure just as big a reason is she doesn't seem to take any crap off of anybody and doesn't fear ticking people off. They have similar outlooks in general. Oh, and she's young. You don't want two old geezers, when they both have heart attacks Nancy Pelosi ends up running the country and we all know she can't interrupt her vacation for trivial matters such as being POTUS.

Who gives a flip that she's a woman. She is amazing! I am so excited that she is his running mate.

I am SO curious to see how this plays out with the women disenfranchised from the Democratic party. Yes she is a woman, but no she is not a liberal woman, yes it is a good thing to have women in high positions, BUT is it going to steal some of the juice from HRC historic campaign?

Also, if McCain dies in office (this is a serious question he has had cancer four times and is 72) will she make a good president?
