Maybe they don't understand that they need to get consent from the artist and/or label? LOL

Somehow, that doesn't surprise me. Though if the Repubs actually got permission to use music before hand, it would be Dolly Parton on repeat.

I am not surprised that there was no respect for the artists. It is typical McCain. Do what you want then have high-priced lawyers clean it up.

They have to steal songs. If they don't all they get are songs that remind us that McCain is a RAISN(raisin' McCain) What a gloriously stupid idea that was.

"Sarah Palin's views and values in NO WAY represent us as American women. We ask that our song 'Barracuda' no longer be used to promote her image. The song 'Barracuda' was written in the late 70s as a scathing rant against the soulless, corporate nature of the music business, particularly for women. (The 'barracuda' represented the business.) While Heart did not and would not authorize the use of their song at the RNC, there's irony in Republican strategists' choice to make use of it there."

HEY . . . don't knock Dolly, she rocks. and she's pretty liberal, actually, for a country singer.
