  That is so sad. When I was a kid we had something like that happen just blocks away. A guy who had lost his job and was losing his house just snapped. He called his kids in sick to school then put bags over their heads (they were like 9 and 7 and the 7yo had disabilities). Then he bludgeoned his wife to death before setting the house on fire while still inside.
  They lived across the street from a high school and a girl there saw the smoke and they called 911. The guy survived. The 9yo little girl was actually a classmate and friend of my next door neighbor (my best friend). She went to the same school my kids go to now. It was really sad that he saw killing his family and himself as the only way out.

  I am afraid there are a lot of families out there who are in the same boat, so to speak. I hope they choose a different path.

  So, they lived in a gated community.... was it his problem, that living with us unwashed masses, worse than death?
