God: My source of Hope and Strength

Be the first to comment
Psalm 42 (New International Version)  As the deer pants for streams of water,        so my soul pants for you, O God.  2 My soul thirsts for God, for the living God.        When can I go and meet with God?  3 My tears have been my food        day and night,        while men say to me all day long,        "Where is your God?"  4 These things I remember        as I pour out...

The Way of the Cross Leads Home

Be the first to comment
I've been humming this song today and felt led to share the lyrics with you. This song should bring us peace and comfort in troubled times. Our world is in troubled times, folks. So much unrest and anger surrounds us. But we have hope knowing this world is not our home. The Way of the Cross Leads Home I must needs go home by the way of the cross,There's no other way but this;I shall ne'er get sight of the gates of light,If the way of the cross I miss. Refrain The way of the cross leads home,The way of the cross leads home,It is sweet to know as I onward go,The way of the cross...

Others may, you cannot

Others may, you cannot  by G. D. Watson (1845-1924) "If God has called you to be really like Jesus, He will draw you to a life of crucifixion and humility, and put upon you such demands of obedience, that you will not be able to follow other people, or measure yourself by other Christians, and in many ways He will seem to let other good people do things which He will not let you do."Other Christians and ministers who seem very religious and useful may push themselves, pull wires, and work schemes to carry out their plans, but you cannot do it; and if you...

Eternal Destiny

Comments (11)
Matthew 7:13-1413"Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. 14But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it. Even with the hundreds, thousands, even millions of Christians who have Eternal Life with Christ, there are still many, many more than that who will not. Matthew 7:21-2321"Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. 22Many will say...

Beauty is in the eye of the Beh- *scratch that* -

Beauty is in the eye of the Beh- -----------------------------------------------------Beauty is in the eye of the Creator. We've all looked in the mirror at some point in our lives and not liked what we've seen. My hair's too flat, nose too big, eyes too squinty, neck too short, breasts too small, lovehandles too lovehandly....and many more hundreds of things different women feel about their physical appearance. You know what's really beautiful? A kind word, a friendly gesture, a tinkling laugh - showing compassion, patience, friendship. Our words and actions are what make...

Swearing - Why not?

Comments (7)
Swearing. To some people it's second nature, just part of their everyday vocabulary. To other's these words are a way to reinforce/describe their feelings, particularly in written word.  Some people believe that words are words and are only bad if we make them bad. Let's define swearing:swear[1,verb]     Main Entry: 1swear  Pronunciation: \ˈswer\ Function: verb Inflected Form(s): swore  \ˈswȯr\; sworn  \ˈswȯrn\; swear·ing Etymology: Middle English sweren, from Old English swerian; akin to Old High German swerien to swear and...

Old Testament History

Be the first to comment
I hesitate to use the word 'story' when talking about the Bible. For most of us, we know the Bible is a complete, and true account of the history of Christianity. So think back to all the lessons you had as a kid in Sunday School or some Old Testament reading you've done. What are some of your favorite events in the Old Testament?  2 Kings, Chapter 2 2 Kings 2:10-12  10 "You have asked a difficult thing," Elijah said, "yet if you see me when I am taken from you, it will be yours—otherwise not."  11 As they were walking along...
