REJECT NEW MAMMOGRAM GUIDELINES!!!!

Comments (73)
In case you haven't been following it, here, in a nutshell, is the philosophy behind the new mammogram guidelines as set by a federal advisory panel, which wants us to stop getting tested before age 50, and then only every other year:Sure thousands will die as a result, but they, thousands more won't have to worry their pretty little heads about it.That's right, ladies. The feds want to scale back mammograms because they make too many women needlessly worry. Never mind the thousands among us who would be dead right now if these new guidelines had been heeded.I am blind with rage. We must...

Are you buying books for the holidays?

Comments (3)
Hope so! They make great gifts, and there are price wars going on, so bargains abound. Also, the publishing industry is still in cardiac arrest and could really use your support!!Need recommendations? Let me know who you're buying for and what their interests are, and I'll see what I can come up with. Happy to be your book genie. :)xoEllen

My son is doing better!

Comments (12)
My 14-year-old son, who got a diagnosis of Crohn's Disease last week, is doing much better. He had been literally starving to death, unable to eat a bite of solid food. Life has thrown a lot of curveballs my way, but nothing was ever worse than watching my child waste away in front of me.But now ... the meds have kicked in, and it's made all the difference in the world. He's eating big healthy portions, which feels like a miracle. We hope he can add some weight to his bones over the next few weeks and months. Thanks so much for all the love and good wishes. My CafeMom friends mean so much to...

Update on my son's health

Big kisses to my sweet, darling, supportive CafeMom friends. You gals astound me. I've been going through some very tough times here, and your good wishes go a long way. Here's the condensed version of what's been going on with my 14-year-old son ...His appetite had been gradually diminishing the fast few years, and his pediatrician repeatedly told me not to worry or even think about it. Some kids are just skinny. Some kids just aren't big eaters. But a few weeks ago I became alarmed when it seemed he was eating even less and lost weight. Can you picture 98 lbs. on a 5' 8" frame? Trust me, if...
