Listen , I love my mother I really do. My dad died about 3 years ago now. My mother is leagelly blind and she is also a horder. You know she wants to keep everything. She thinks someone can always use it. The house is disgusting. I have offered over and over to help her clean it and she well not go for that. I am worried about her help. She will not move in with me . My boyfriend and I go to take her for her Dr.'s appointments , for food , the drug store, and doing laundry. We live out of town and the gas prices are astonomical. My boyfriend is upset becouse of the prices of running and that his days off are always taken up by her. We are planning on getting married . At the same time I want my mother well taken care of. I feel so caught in the middle. Has anyone out there that may have been threw this have any advice ????????

My dear friend and mom, please stop and breathe!  Is there stuff you can remove, that won't bother your mom? Like stuff not being used, pick it up, put in in your room, in a bag or box, then take it away, next trip out.  I like 1 happyseetpea's idea of the assisted living place. that should give all 3 of you some much deserved relief. Especially that kind, generous fiance of yours! Don't give up hope, it takes time to change things.  You must know how to reach the social security services near you, and find a case-worker for your mom - she deserves the best! Keep your chin up, life does get better.
