It was hard enough that I had to go back to work on Monday. After being at home with Elise for only 6 weeks, I had to return to work. I miss her everyday and I cried a lot last week and on Monday when I dropped her off. Before I had Elise, I interviewed about 10 (both private and commercial) child care providers to find the best fit...most experience, good location, and most importantly...a small amount of children. Elise is an infant and needs good one on one care.
Anyway, Monday was fine. Elise did well. But, on Tuesday, my child care provider bailed and said she decided to take a position with a company and no longer provide child care. Sooooooooo....I am now looking for someone else to care for my pride and joy. It makes me soooooo very angry that this lady did not give me more of a head's up so I could at least have a back-up plan. I am certain she did not make this decision overnight.
And, to make matters worse, on Wednesday when I picked Elise up from this lady's home, she had yellow discharge coming out of her left eye that had been there for God knows how long. And, she was very fussy (normally a very happy baby) and she had diarrehea. None of these things happened when she was in my care. The lady, we'll call her "Ann" did not even mention to me that Elise had some discharge in her eye. Nor did she give Elise any gas medicine for her obvious tummy issues (ie:fussiness). Why was she having tummy issues and diarhea? I am not sure...but I damn sure do not want to bring her back to this lady's house. I am sooooo very frustrated.
I feel like a bad mom, even though I know I tried my best to find good child care and this lady seemed like the perfect fit.
So, if anyone knows a good child care provider in the League City/Dickinson area, please let me know. I would even consider leaving her with a retired grandmother who simply likes babies and would enjoy it.
Thanks for listening.
I'm so sorry to hear about your ordeal with the care provider! I'm due with my first in 8 weeks and I'm still trying to find someone to keep him in their home. I too have to go back to work only after being home for 6 weeks - I am already dreading that! I wanted to know if you were able to find someone to care for your little one?
I hope all is well!
