Regarding dresses...:
We had a child who had two moms..and he would wear his sister's dresses...but, he kept wearing them to kindergarten and then into first grade...and so on..I don't know if he is still always dressing like this..but, I think that it kind of bothers me somewhat...I wish that I didn't feel this way..but, I do. I am "programmed" still..and I am also a "progress in the works!" (trying to be MORE NON-Conformist!!)
It isn't easy!! I think though, that this different way of thinking is soo hard to do...just for some people.
On Baby clothing:
I also think on another note..about the baby clothing that is out there..we still have the gender clothing..as in since I was small, I have always seen those little baseball "little slugger" outfits for little baby boys..who is to say that a girl cannot be a "Great" baseball player..and wear that little slugger suit?!!!
(I have a feeling a lot of girls are wearing those outfits, or t-shirts etc..!!) LOL!
Also, the dump truck t-shirts..and other shirts..plus, why do we always assume that a little girl will wear Pink?
What about blue, or yellow, or black?
etc...?
I do understand that we "are programmed and think this way a LOT or MOST of the time" as in dressing girls one way and or another..also that after the first baby..usually things change and if you have handme downs..from other moms..sometimes you end up just wearing what you have ...if it is a pair of green overalls that looks like a boys outfit..and you put it on your girl child..it really doesn't matter...they are play clothes,, drool clothes...etc...they are little people having a good time in their babyhood! That is really all there is to it!!
Oh, and I will recomment about a thing on a forum about "would you put your baby in this?" as in a bikini bathing suit for babies...I have seen little babies in these suits..I don't happen to think that we are "sexualizing them"
I think that it is merely just a fun baby suit..and they look adorable in these little suits!! Little girls at age two and three wear bikini's too!
They are only bathing suits..they are not here for the bathing beauty contest of the year here!!
*****( I DO have a thing or two to say about the little princess beauty contests though!!!) That will have to be on the bottom end of this journal!!!)*****
I think handme downs are very cute!!! I love those old overalls with striped shirts underneath, or ya know..the shirts that are NOT new...they have been worn several times over...by another child!! I love those on kids!! The kids look adorable!!!
New clothing is NOT always comfy..and you can sort of see it via the little kids..who are scratching, pulling, yanking, moving a lot.&.taking off their clothing LOL!
The newer clothing is stiff, too tight, elastic like, itchy, etc..but, with ten times over worn clothing..it is soft, and comfy!! It's highly pleasant to wear...
(There are kids however, who will NOT wear older types of clothing as well..it is NOT only just the parents who refuse the clothing..some kids love NEW clothing! That is honestly the whole truth!!!) LOL!
But, if the child who is like Gwen Araujo ,who was born a boy but, inside felt like a girl...I would still have mixed feelings, but, I think that if they honestly felt like a girl..that perhaps it would be helpful to accept this..even if it is not that easy to. I am programmed too, to think that boys are boys and girls are girls...but, I also wonder myself about things like this..and I would rather be MORE open minded about issues like this!! I feel that this is very important!
****Okay , just a few comments about the bathing beauty contests for little girls...I really think..and I also really hope, that they let little girls be in the contests without the hair(the wigs) and the false teeth!
Also girls have a natural ability to be gorgeous, without the makeup and the hair and teeth!!
I would rather see the natural beauty of their little faces..then the fake stuff! The hair is soo darn ugly!! I can't stand seeing them like that!!(and yes, this is from an adult point of view..I understand that!!) Maybe little girls love to wear the fake hair, or whatever else is fake..but, to me, that is highly disturbing!!
I think that little girls are adorable just as they are!!!
Why can't people just use what they have...and let the girls, wear very nice dresses,,, curl their hair, let them have a few missing teeth(because they look fantastic!!) and be the child who they really are and ought to be!?
They have already changed Miss America Contests...so, why not make a major change with this? This is how it ought to be!! It is the natural way!!!
We are NOT here to promote the adult ways of beauty (well, a bit..but, it is a fun contest..and the little girls enjoy this...but, I also think that let us make it into a positive experience, instead of a fake experience!!)
Just a huge gripe from me...about this type of show...I would LOVE to see them change the rules...and personally I would write to them to ask them to do that!!
(That the children could only use curling irons, or curlers, some makeup, nice party gowns or dresses,,,nothing fake..(save for makeup) no false teeth, fake lashes, or anything else,..and nothing "over the top!")
Just let the little girls be little girls!! They are adorable the way that they were born!!!
