As I was cooking our supper yesterday, my mind was drifting, thinking about all the veterans that have been in my own family geneology, and Fred's, and my ex-husband's.  There are a LOT.  They all served AND their FAMILIES made sacrifices - we have our FREEDOM in the United States of America BECAUSE of the duties carried out by our veterans, during wartime and in peacetimes.

Our family can proudly say that we have documents of an American Revolution relative...not a lot of people can say that, but my Mama's side of the family can!

I'm very proud of THAT family history.  Fortunately, we haven't lost a lot of family during wartimes, being killed in the line of duty, except ONE.  The only one that I can think of is my Aunt Launa Merritt's first husband, Bill Denney.  He made the ultimate sacrifice for our country, and left a young wife and toddler behind.

Those who made the ultimate sacrifices should NEVER BE FORGOTTEN...and I guess I'm writing this post today to remember Bill Denney, who served and died for his country in WWII.

Don't get me wrong, I honor ALL of our veterans for serving - they deserve it ... but just for today, I wanted Bill Denney to know that someone thought of HIM and what HE died for.

Bill...this one's for YOU...

What a beautiful Post and sentiment.  I’m sure your Uncle Bill appreciates the Honor you have bestowed on him.   I personally thank you, from all Vets.

(I thought I had already commented to this Post. . . . I must be mistaken.   I also have an Uncle Bill and several persons in the military in my family history.)
