Energy drinks have become more and more popular over the years. As people lead such busy lives and need a pick-me-up in the afternoons, the first thing they reach for is a beverage filled with caffeine such as coffee, frozen coffees and energy drinks. What most does not realize is that these drinks are loaded with things that are quite bad for them. Energy drinks can give you an instant pick up but after the effects begin to wear off they are left with low energy and a feeling of wanting to crash.
Just like any other kind of drug, responses to caffeine vary by person to person. When you think of caffeine you may not think that it is a drug but in reality it is. When you think of drugs you think of addiction, caffeine is addicting and therefore is considered a drug. Some energy drinks have as much as 80 milligrams of caffeine in them, that is as much as a cup of coffee. There are other energy drinks that have even more than a cup of coffee, sometimes as much as twice as much.
The short-term effects of energy drinks are pretty much the same as other caffeine beverages. They are a stimulant so they will increase the heart rate and blood pressure, dehydrate the body and prevent sleep. Combining energy drinks with exercise or alcohol can lead to dangerous side effects. When you are exercising you sweat, combining the sweating with the dehydrating effects of energy drinks can cause serious dehydration. Alcohol is a depressant and mixing a depressant with a stimulant is never good.
Consuming a stimulant with alcohol can cause serious side effects. For example, the consumer may not even know he has had too many drinks because he does not feel as intoxicated as he would if he had not had an energy drink. A person who does not know how intoxicated they are does not know when to stop and can end up with alcohol poisoning. Alcohol is also dehydrating, so combining two different dehydrating beverages can dehydrate the drinker to a dangerous point and put him or her in the hospital.
However, there is an easier way to get the energy needed without the harmful effects that energy drinks can have on the body and mind. There are herbal supplements that are available in powder and other forms that will give you the boost you need. No more coffee and energy drinks that just make you feel worn down after the effects begin to wear off. You can have energy without the crash afterward. Most of these natural supplements are 100 percent good for your body because they contain natural ingredients. Best of all these herbal supplement boosters are easy to metabolize and can be used by all ages.

You know, I've heard that about alcohol and energy drinks. Too much buzz. Because alcohol is basically a depressant. And energy drinks are stimulants. When you take them together, they're fighting at cross-purposes and wearing down your body. If you're lucky, the worst that'll happen is that your body crashes and you fall asleep. If you're lucky.
Since they make people feel less intoxicated, they increase the risk of horrible things like drunk driving.
Even though I don't drink alcohol, I hate the way energy drinks make me feel. I'd much rather take something like an herbal supplement which doesn't hit me all at once and make me feel a very uncomfortable tingling. And then not crash afterwards. Wow, I'd forgotten how much I hate energy drinks, I just stay away from them.
Anyway, thanks for your recommendations!
