Unfortunately, it seems that the Prom from Hell didn't end on Saturday night! Go ahead, keep reading ~ you really must follow the continuing saga...

On Sunday night my DD is on MySpace talking to the friend who she hung out with at prom ~ this girl starts having a total meltdown about how Allie was trying to steal her date (they went as friends) by dancing and flirting with him all night. She goes on and on forever about how Allie has it all ~ looks, personality, confidence, etc. My daughter asks her friend why she's being blamed for her genetics ~ take it out on her parents, since she's not going to stand still while she gets hit by the ugly stick! Finally around midnight, the girl calms down and agrees with Allie ~ Then she starts berating herself for getting her hopes up about her date liking her in the first place. Now Allie feels that she must play the confidence booster to this girl who's just accused her of conduct unbecoming my daughter! It takes a little while longer, but Allie thinks that she's got her friends emotional roller coaster back onto a level track (for this week at least).

As traditionally happens on holidays, on Monday we went to MILs house for a pool party / BBQ ~ Allie hadn't had a chance to call Moose to tell him about prom yet and the poor kid has had his cell phone & his laptop (as well as prom) taken away. He does try to call the house, but since we're not at home to answer the phone, he goes on MySpace to look for Allie. And what in the world does he find there?!? Apparently, Allie's hysterical (and I DON'T mean funny!) friend has been telling everyone at school about her prom experience in not so nice terms. Well, most people's first reaction would be to get angry at Allie; that's natural, and Moose is no exception! He accepts this girls word as law, because she's one of Allie's best friends ~ forget the fact that her own emotions may taint her version of the events just a little bit. Then Moose starts asking Allie's excessively jealous friend if he should break up with my daughter ~ he hasn't even talked to her yet to get her version of prom night! When we get home Monday evening, Allie gets on MySpace ~ she sees some nasty comments here & there, but figures that it's from Sunday, and that she's already handled the situation. WRONG!

Tuesday, after school, Allie calls Moose to discuss the weekend in general, and prom in particular! That's when the crap really starts flying!!! According to the (very short) version of events that I heard from my daughter, it took her about 2 hours to calm Moose down, and (even though he's still not happy with the situation) to ascertain that she still has a boyfriend. She had to remind him that (A) the guy she was dancing with at prom was someone else's date (not hers!) and that the girl was there the entire time, that (B) she has a boyfriend that she is perfectly happy with (she doesn't want or need a different one, or an additional one!), and that (C) if she had gone to prom with his friend as her date then she would've been dancing with him instead!

That was yesterday..... I can't wait to hear what TODAY'S story about last weekends prom will be!

May. 28, 2008 at 8:09 PM When will it ever end? LOL Poor Allie...she's the innocent in this equation. Moose told her to go with HIS friend, what difference does it make if it's just another friend...and one that is with her best friend, for heaven's sake! I hope this girl calms down and realizes that Allie already has a boyfriend she's happy with, and doesn't want the one from Prom. Oh, the drama of it all!!
