To day my daughter cut her hair and told me she didn't. She wet her pants twice this week and lied about, and last week she got a bus report and said she didn't do anything wrong. This seems to be happening more and more lately. She normally is a good kid so I don't know what is going on. Is this a stage they go though around 5 years old? What should I do? Talking doesn't seem to be working.

It is a stage, and can be difficult to work thru.  I can see that she may think she didn't do anything for the bus report - perspective of a child. However thre self wetting and hair cutting (if you saw her do it) are easier to prove. When my daughter started lying to me I explained to her that telling the truth and accepting the conseqeuences is ALWAYS the better choice than lying. If I caught her in a lie, I doubled her punishment (10 minutes in time out instead of 5, 2 days of no tv show instead of 1 etc) and explained to her that it was two punishments for two misbehaviors ( the problem and the lying). It didn't happen overnight, but fairly quickly she realized the extra punishment stunk.  Good luck!!

Molly...
Yes I would say it is a stage.  Just dont let a lie go with out a punishment.  I talked to my therapist about this cause I have a 3 year old that is doing the same thing.  She said that if they lie and get away with it they are changing the rules of society.   They have to learn thats not ok.
