The other night my fiance (Adam), Denver, and I walked over to the fire station we volunteer at (we live right next tot he station) to chat with some of the firefighters there! Denver had a squirt gun and was playing with it and the rest of us were just hanging around chatting. We have really big lights at the station so you can see alot, so I let Denver wander around and play, usually Denver will not go into the dark.I had gone into the office at the fire station to do some paperwork and told Adam to watch Denver for a minute.  Well when I came out, I asked Adam where I son was and the next minute I know my fire chief is yelling "DENVER STOP". come to find out Denver wandered up the driveway towards a busy highway not paying attention because he was so involved with is squirt gun, (now remember this is a Saturday night around 9:00 pm) , I don't think he even realized he had gone that far. My son was inched away from stepping on the highway!!! To make it worse there was a speeding car comming!!!  My heart dropped to my feet and I fell to the floor! Adam and my chief ran like hell to get to him. Luckly Denver stopped and look to see who was yelling at him. I was so pissed off at Adam for not watching him.  But then again I was pissed off at myself and felt like a horrible mom for not making Denver come into the office with me. I knew I should have trusted my gut feeling! I could have lost my son that night but God was on my side at that moment. After I collected myself I grabbed Denver up and went straight home. I just hugged him so tightly and would not let him go, when I got home I cried like a baby! I was so upset! Til this day I have never let Denver out of my sight! I am always following him when he is at the station or anywhere near a road!
