I thought we had months to go before Brenna got her first visit from the tooth fairy.
I always assumed teeth fell out in a similar pattern as how they came in. Meagan got her first teeth (the bottom two) when she was 7 1/2 months old. She didn't get any more until she was 13 months.
She lot her bottom teeth a couple months after turning 6. The top 4 fell out a year later when she was 7.
Owen got his first teeth (also the bottom two) when he was 6 months but had most of his teeth before he turned 1. He lost his bottom teeth just before he turned 6. He hasn't lost any more since then (he is 6 1/2). So I guess that kind of throws my whole theory out the window, lol.
But Brenna was a very late teether. She got her first tooth (one of the top ones) shortly after turning 1. She then got 2 more on top before getting the bottom ones (which came in around 17 months).
I assumed she would be nearly 7 before her teeth started getting loose but...um, nope.
She is about to lose her first tooth...a bottom one. It is super lose and will probably be out by next week some time (if not the end of the weekend). She is 5 1/2. So she is about to lose her first tooth months before her brother and sister did (agewise).
She is a little unsettled by this. Last fall she was all upset that her brother and sister were losing teeth left and right (between the two they lost 6 teeth in one month) but now that it is her turn she is a little scared about it. She was almost in tears the other nights saying she didn't want her tooth to fall out and what if she swallowed it or lost it (Meagan swallowed her first tooth eating lunch and lost one of her other ones).
I think she is starting to be okay with it. She keeps showing me how lose it is every couple of hours. I am excited for her. She is just growing up so fast. She graduated preschool last night. Kindergarten starts in 12 weeks. Her speech is getting better by the week (she gets clearer and clearer). She is about ready to start reading, I think (more so then Owen who refuses to try to read). And now the teeth. It's weird to think she is going to be 6 this year. She has always seemed much younger to me, mostly because of her speech delay but also her behavior. She really doesn't act like a 5yo most of the time.
Anyway...Brenna is at her next big milestone of childhood-the first lose tooth.
Comments:
My son had his first tooth coming in before the first one fell out, too. My brother was the same way--all his teeth came in that way.
I hadn't realized how far the new tooth had come in (it was about half way in) so I told him to start wiggling the baby tooth more so it would fall out sooner. Instead he spent all day messing with it and finally pulled the dang thing out that night, lol.
Now Meagan has a loose tooth, too. Her and Owen were wrestling around and he knocked her tooth loose. Well, it was already loose but not it is really loose. So we're going to have 3 lost teeth this month. Brenna's is going to be out in the next couple of days. She's starting to get excited.
