We’ve been having some issues with our son and diapers…he is only 7.5 months old and has learned how to take them off and does it alllllll the time…can’t seem to keep them on him for longer than a second. I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions as to how to hinder his ability to do so? He does it the second I put it on and every time I fix it there after…he just pulls on the tabs…yanks off the diaper and he’s off!…rolling around…”crawling”…and generally trying to get away from me so I can't put it back on. At first…putting pants on over his diaper worked because he couldn’t reach the tabs so I just always made sure to put his pants on the second I had his diaper on but a few days ago he learned how to do it THROUGH HIS PANTS! This causes some problems as you can imagine. The other day…he did it while in his car seat…I didn’t notice…and when we were looking around at houses…he urinated on me while I was carrying him around…loveliness. I check him all the time now!!! If he was older (could walk!) I’d potty train him in a second…however…he’s nowhere near walking and…I don’t know what to do. Anyone else have this problem? Any suggestions? We’ve tried many different kinds of diapers but…they are really all the same in this department. Thanks for any help!!

Jun. 1, 2008 at 12:32 AM I WOULD JUST PUT DUCK TAPE AROUND HIS WAIST  THAT IS WHAT I DID TO MY SON PATRICK THEN KEEP PANTS OR SHORTS ON HIM AT ALL TIMES!

It sounds like you have a pretty smart little guy there!  lol!  I went through it too.  I did the duct tape thing, but that just started becoming a hassle.  One thing I did that worked was put the diaper on backwards for a while so the tabs were in the back, then he couldn't get them off.  It made him mad at first, but it worked and he started leaving it alone. :D  Hope this helps!  :D

Jun. 1, 2008 at 12:49 AM That's the second time I've heard "put them on backwards"...that works? Interesting!

Duct tape seems to be a very common answer...I guess duct tape really does fix EVERYTHING...haha. Thanks everyone! I wonder what his reaction will be tomorrow when he CAN'T take his diaper off...ought to be interesting.
