A friend of mine got hurt and also her daughter because a cold hearted lil girl called her names....my friends daughter is autistic and by no means what the lil girl called her.....I think people who make fun of people because they have different traits and unigueness about them are the true retards...as this is what my friends daughter was called which was as ugly as ugly can get....

I think this also stems by how parents raise their children, like where did she hear this talk from....you learn by what you see, hear and have been around...

So parents becareful what you say to your children or how you talk around them because they want to act like you and sometimes this can cause others such pain thats is so uncalled for....

Jun. 1, 2008 at 2:43 AM I will be very honest with you even though it doesnt shed a positive light on me personally.  I in my everyday lingo do use the term retard I never direct it at anyone and honestly I dont know if my kids have a clue what someone who is retarded or has a mental handicap is because I havent ever said used a derogatory comment towards people that do have those issues however I know I am wrong 100% by using the term at all.  Anyways I just wanted to be open and honest about that and tell you thank you for your post it will make me think twice before I use the term again

Another point is that sometimes this comes out at no fault to the parents. We have to remember that many things are learned when children attend Public Schools. Some behavior can be learned from fellow students. Or things can be done just because kids want to be popular or hang out with the popular crowd. Parents can help their children through these tough times if they are being influenced. But we can not force or make our children act a certain way just because we know it is right, even young children have free will.

I am so sorry this happened to your friends daughter and hope that her mother is on top of any emotional needs that she will need as a result of this.

Love Much, Katherine
