Today my son called me to talk like he always does, but I could tell there was something the matter by the way he was talking, I asked if there was something wrong, He asked if i was sitting down, I told him I was, He then told me he had to go to Iraq in November, (right around Thanksgiving). We thought he had to report over ther in Feb, but the orders had gottin changed. He told me he would try to come home in September for a visit, I am not ready for this. He told me he wont be able to talk to me as much and he doesnt want things sent to him, He said because it will be hard on him seeing pics of his little girl or of us. Im just beside myself about all this. If I had my wish everyone would be comming home not being sent over there. Or I wish I could go with him. My hubby tells me to relaxs because im gonna give myself a heartatack. But all I do is cry. Does it get better??? I dont see it getting better.        Godbless

Jun. 1, 2008 at 11:46 AM I know how you feel. My son is early-enlisting in the airforce. I am a nervous wreck about it. He's only 17.

Does it get any eaiser. No not really, but you will learn to live/deal with it better. My son was deployed in January. At first I cried alot. I still do cry from time to time, but I'm doing much better. I joined these groups where there are people to talk to. People give advise suggestions and how they deal with everything.

I also found lots of things to do. I even decided to start my on group "Proud Military Moms" and I try to help other moms going thru what we in these groups are all going thru. I also got more into photography and photo editing to keep me busy and poured a little more time into my job.

I email my son all the time, and  have more or less glued my cell phone to my hip so I don't miss his calls.

You can make it you are a strong person who has lots of moms who are willing to help you out as much as possible.

I will keep your family and son in my prayers and if you ever need to talk I am here for you.

I'm sorry about your news.   I can only imagine how you feel.  After spending 8 years in the military myself all I can say is once he gets settled in there I am sure he will want pictures and things again.  I will keep you and your family in my prayers.   Who knows maybe his orders will get changed again stranger things have happened.  I was 3 days from being sent to a ship on the West Coast when they came in and changed my orders to Washington DC.
