So my dd is very independent and insist on doing everything when she wants it done. Well my problem is this. She wants to be potty trained. I don't want to potty train her. I was real eager to potty train her until I took my two year old potty trained niece with me to a birthday party at a park. When she had to go she would not let it go, she kept saying potty, potty, potty. So I had to stop what I was doing find someone to take dd and take her to a potty, that I would not be caught dead in. So that's part of the reason I don't want to do that right now. I have a new baby on the way, and I could just see myself at the mall, with Stephen jr happily breastfeeding and me trying to make it to the potty when I could just wait, and give myself a little more time. I tried to potty train her at 16 months and she didn't want to, she would not even sit on the potty. Now I go to the bathroom and I take her in with me and shes pushing me off the toilet. Then she gets real upset and says mommy peepee and fall on the floor kicking and screaming. She is soooo upset all because I wont put her on the seat, that I am at the time sitting on. So I finish I get her attachment and put it on the potty when I am done, and instantly she goes pee. She smiles and says "mommy peepee". gheeze, what kind of mother wont potty train there child???? I am 35 weeks pregnant and I don't think anyone would keep up the potty training while I'm in the hospital. What am I going to do??

Jun. 1, 2008 at 2:46 PM My fourth child did that to me and I was forced to put training pants on her and she was trained in one week. She refused to go in a diaper anymore and I had no say in it at all. She insisted and she did not make many mistakes in that week.

Jun. 1, 2008 at 5:47 PM If she is that ready then I would say putting her in training pants and let her use the potty as much as she wants to! Then if for some reason you absolutely can't take her to the potty when she is ready, she can go in the training pants and not have to be changed right away. But I don't think you should put it off just because of how you feel- she is ready and you are lucky! Lots of kids refuse!!

I would look at it this way, you wouldn't have two in diapers then.  That is what happened when I had my two youngest ones.  I was so glad to not have to buy diapers for both of them.
