I just got my home study course in the mail and was sooooo excited to begin! I read through all my appropriate manual and info and then started w/CD 1 (part 1)

AND I'M IN LOVE

For those of you who think you can't do it...then you can't. I won't even try and convince ya b/c you have probably already determined the negative! You are too closed minded to even want to learn and understand that there IS A WAY. It's a mind over matter thing! I strongly believe the mind is an amazing tool that has yet to be discovered! I loved what they had to say about fear and how society has made women in to thinking that it does hurt and that you can't do it. Yep there's pain...I can attest since this is my 4th pregnancy and my 3rd natural drug free birth. But BUT can it be managed? You betcha! I labored w/my others at home until it was time to leave for the hospital...but upon arriving to the hospital they strap me to a bed w/an iv and I can't move around. With the many ppl coming in and out in and out...lights blaring and nurses not caring that I'm trying to relax...well I can assure you it will be more difficult to try! This time I found an incredible Midwife (whom I trust more than my old ob/gyn) and I'll be birthing little Lily in the Birthing Center.

Right now I am having to reprogram all negative words and stories I have seen/heard/or read and changing them w/more positive words.

I am excited about baby Lily's birth ahead. I am excited to be able to Birth her how I should...how nature intended...and not how the hospital would like me too. THE IMPOSSIBLE!

CD 1 part 1 was incredible! I found a comfy spot and closed my eyes and got fully relaxed. I am excited to continue w/my lessons and hope for those of you out there that believe you can have a beautiful birth...take time and give this a try! I'll keep you updated as I progress through the course!

Jun. 1, 2008 at 5:06 PM Good Luck!  I agree the mind is a very powerful tool.  I experience the wonders of it everyday while caring for patients.  I always try to instill positive thoughts and energy in them.  Sometimes it is very very hard because they are already so negative.  Positive Powerful Thinking !!!  Enjoy your hypnobaby birth journey!  I can't wait to follow your experiences.

Jun. 1, 2008 at 9:01 PM Sounds very interesting.  I will have to give this route some thought... especially considering that I have NO CLUE how this natural birth will go.  I definitely need my mental preparation!!!

Jun. 2, 2008 at 9:39 AM GL!  I did Hypnobirthing with Jac.  I've actually used the relaxation techniques alot.  I have gone with an epi with both but the teachings have helped me.  I just can't do the self-hypnosis.  I usually end up falling asleep!  *laughs*  Definitely practice.  And, it made me very proactive in my care.
