LadySaphira's Journal

mussings of the slightly deranged

I am "normal" looking

I can speak, although my grammar is not always correct

I have a great sense of humor, even if I do have an exaggerated laugh

I am giving, today I shared my cookies with my mom just because I wanted to, she didn't ask

I can ride a bike, it took me until I was 9 but I can do it!

I have a large vocabulary, I use words appropriately even of I can't exactly pronounce them

I am loving, I like to give hugs and get them back

I can play, sometimes I don't understand the rules but I do my best

I have good ideas, even if I cannot express them in a way others can understand

I am caring, I try to comfort those who are sad

I can succeed, it may take me a bit longer but I WILL do it

I have feelings, I just happen to feel them stronger than other people sometimes

I am NOT contagious

I can NOT understand why some people avoid me

I have Autism, it does not mean I am not human

And that's me:

I am "normal" looking

I can speak (english), although my grammar is not always correct

I have a great sense of humor, even if I do have an awful laugh

I am giving, today I shared my b/day with Kyle and Sean's teachers because I wanted to

I can ride a bike, it took me until I was 10 but I can do it!

I have a large vocabulary, I use words appropriately, but still I can't exactly pronounce some of them

I am loving, I like to give hugs and get them back

I can play, sometimes I don't understand the rules but I do my best

I have good ideas, even if I sometimes cannot express them in a way others can understand

I am caring, I try to comfort those who are sad

I can succeed, it may take me a bit longer but I WILL do it

I have feelings, I just happen to feel them stronger than other people sometimes

But I don't have autism! And I am 32 years old. In the end, we "normal" ones are not so different really. We just have to make that effort to recognize and accept that AND more importantly teach that universal acceptance our children! Wouldn't our world be a much better place?

Jun. 11, 2008 at 3:21 PM That is a wonderful poem Lisa, and I feel that some people are truly sad if they can't see how wonderful I am sure Andrew is. I have heard a lot of great things about him. Give him a hug from me to him, will ya! :)
