My family is really in need of prayers today. My 14 yr old nephew, Aaron, has been experiencing severe headaches for the past 4-5 days and last night my BIL had to take him to the ER only to find out he may have Lyme Disease. That is a least what they believe he is experiencing but because his symptoms are so very close to Bell's Palsy only time will tell.

He is home from the hospital now but still has both inflammation and an infection in one of the nerves of his brain. He can't blink his eye nor will it tear on one side of his face. He is also slurring his words because his mouth on that side is not working properly. It is as if he had a stroke, but he didn't, and one side of his face is paralyzed. He is having tremendous difficulty swallowing and the one side of his face is droopy. All symptoms of Lyme Disease but also of Bell's Palsy. He cannot sleep and hasn't slept for 4 days because the pain is so bad and because he cannot close his eye. Nor has he eaten because of the difficulty he is having when swallowing.

The Lyme Disease is curable with anti-biotics so we are praying that he will feel better in a few days now that he is on the antibiotics. But if it is Bell's Palsy by some chance, then as far as I understand, his face will not get any better.

We are praying that God gives him a complete and quick healing with no side effects from the inflammation. We are also praying that it is not Bell's Palsy and for peace and rest for my sister and the rest of the family.

Thanks so much ladies. I truly appreciate it.

Love in Christ,
Melissa

Update:
Just wanted to say "Thank You" ladies for all your prayers and continued prayers. It truly means so much to me. What a blessing you all are. Aaron is doing much better. His headaches are gone but he is still experiencing the facial paralysis. I believe the Doctor said it could take 4-6 weeks before it subsides hopefully on its on so please continue to pray. He is sleeping and eating, and he has also been hanging out with a few of his friends so I know he is starting to get back to normal. I can't thank you ladies enough. I so appreciate and love all of you. God Bless.  ~Melissa : )

Jun. 1, 2008 at 8:14 PM I had Bell's palsy once. It was about 4 years ago. I just woke up one moring and the left side of my face was paralyzed. My hubby took my to the ER fearing i had a stroke. They told me it was bells palsy and to go to physical therapy. The hooked electrods to my face daily for almost a month. And then it just went away. No permament damage. It wasn't painful though, except for the therapy. Hopefully his will resolve that simply too. I will be sending prayers his way.
