Wow!  My baby is already 7 years old, and he said he had "the best birthday ever."  His birthday was May 29th, so my husband and I brought cupcakes in for his class to share.  Because it was a school night, we decided to have the party the next day.  So Friday, May 30th, we had his party at the Splash Park located at a nearby beach.  Six of his friends showed up with their brothers and/or sisters and, they had a blast!  I was so happy that people actually came, because according to Sammy's teacher, he is not very popular in his class.  Sammy has some issues dealing with PDD-NOS and Sensory Integration Disorder, so he often irritates others in his class by invading personal space and other poor social behavior.  I was relieved when the parents of the children who came to the party had nothing but good to say about Sammy.  They expressed nothing but compliments and all thought Sammy was a pretty cool kid.  This is the 1st time I have ever heard anything positive this year from peers or parents of peers about Sammy:)  It gives me a lot of hope for him and makes me feel happy that he does at least have a few friends at school.  I think having the birthday party was a very positive event for Sammy, and maybe he will behave better at school.  Who knows?  I guess we'll see how it goes this week.
