How to get to Mommeet 2009?

There is nothing that can keep me from MomMeet 2009. I am a single mother trying her hardest to support her daughter and help out her older children, I work hard for my money. I don't have a problem working hard as long as I can also use some of what I make to enjoy life.
What better way to enjoy life than taking a little time for myself to meet so many people that have become a very large part of my everyday life. I will be meeting most of them for the first time. These women have supported me in times of trouble, they have called when I was in the hospital and even my own family did not take the time to do that.

How do I get there? Does it really matter? How do I not get there when these women are the bedrock to my daily existence?

I will put my change away for the next year, loose change, extra dollars left over at the end of my paycheck. I will earmark a part of my tax refund as vacation money. I will have a sale and sell some of my paintings or I will really hit the streets and go door to door selling my avon in earnest. I will hold a bake sale, a garage sale, I will even make my fresh salsa and chips by the quart and sell them as I haver done before to save up for a big trip when my oldest daughter wanted to go to Australia.

The only thing I will not sell to make it there is my children, being a Mom is what gives me this chance in the first place. See you at Mom-meet 2009!!

Ideas to get to the Mom Meet 2009

I was thinking with the price of gas so high. And this also being a get together.  How about us checking out how much it would cost to get a touring bus from a travel agency. They may be able to give us a deal.  The bus ride would give us an opportunity to start the party early and get to know each other better.  We would be saving gas in the long run because everyone would not have to take their own car.  I would also think that if we had enough people from different areas that would like to do this they may give us a good price.  Everyone is looking for business right now with the way the economy is.

I think another idea is taking a jar and decorate with the name MOMMEET 2009 and keep it on your counter in your kitchen.  You can put all your spare change in it, and who knows maybe other people might put some change in it, if they come to visit.  You could even put a little note on it something to the point of  FEED ME AND MOM WILL GET FEED A GREAT BREAK SOME WELL DESERVED RELAXATION.    Sometimes it is easier for someone to donate change than to donate a whole lot of money.  And change adds up.

How about a garage sale, or a mom to mom sale, these are great ways to earn some extra cash, you could even try ebay, craigslist, if you do crafts,  Christmas is really right around the corner you could start your crafting now and sell your handmade goods at a Craft show, or even here on CAFEMOM.

Another idea start cutting coupons and the money you would have spent had you not had the coupons put in an envelope and see how  quickly that builds up.

Right now where I live they are doing a lot of gold parties.  Most of us have broken gold jewelry or earrings with 1 earring missing, they also take silver.  You may even have jewelry you are never going to wear again it is doing you no good in a jewelry box.  However the Mom Meet-up 2009 will do you a lot of good.

lf you like to clean and did one house a week at $100.00 you could have your money in no time.

Birthdays, Christmas, ask for a gift of money to help pay for your trip.  I know my mom probably would like to do that other than buy something I more than likely don't need.

Do you have a talent such as Jewelry making, scrap-booking, crocheting you could have an open house craft day and charge a base fee and have people come and make something and charge a price that would cover the craft and make you some money.  I would love to learn how to bead.

Another Idea could be skipping going out to dinner once a week and take that money and put it away.  We like to go out to dinner after church and we tend to go to some place a little nicer.  We could go somewhere this is priced better and save the difference.

Try going to Garage sales to purchase things instead of paying full price at the store.  You would be amazed how much money you can save that way.

Place a sign in some senior centers and offer to run errands for a fee.  You would be helping them and you would make a little extra money.  Many of these centers charge a great deal of money for the center themselves to run errands you could save them a lot of money.

Do you have an airport by you, you might be able to do airport runs, taxis are expensive you could charge a little less and still make money.

Babysitting, It is so hard to find a good babysitter you could offer babysitting at night time, that is the hardest time to find a babysitter.  I would also think parents would rather have an experienced mom watching their children than a teenager.

If you sew you could offer hemming of pants and shirts.  There are not many people who can do this anymore.

Do you like to garden, You could plant flowers, cut lawns, trim bushes.  There are many people who like to have flowers however they can't plant them.

You could also do Grocery shopping for people.  There are a lot of people who just do not have the time to grocery shop.  You could send fliers out to businesses. put fliers up in your local supermarket.

You could put a scrapbook together for someone who would like a book completed, however really does not like to scrapbook, or have the time to scrapbook.

At Christmas time you could wrap gifts for people.  Why should the malls get all the money for wrapping gifts when you could.

Recycle-I have noticed that scrap metal is beginning to be a big deal.  You could collect scrap metal (get your partner to help you) and take it to a scrap metal yard and see how much money they would pay you.

A Pledge

Now, I have really been trying to come up with something creative that wasn't listed in the email that you sent to me. I do ceramics and I could paint some and sell them. Thats not very creative. So, I was at the park today with the kids, swinging and thinking. And it kind of hit me...

Pledge to swing for a certain amount of time...no stopping...and have people make a donation towards your pledge. Or whatever the right wording is there. So, say they say 2 hours, no stopping....and they pledge $40.00...well, that's $40.00 towards the trip. That' s my way to get to the Mom Meet 2009. Don'tknow how creative it is, but hey, it's worth a shot...and it sounds like fun!!!!

How I am going to get to Mom Meet 2009

Well this is going to be interesting, as I am a married mother of four.  My 'job' is being the caregiver to my oldest daughter that is special needs and trying to keep up with my two toddler sons and my 9yo dd.  My husband is a fulltime student, so income is scarce.  I figured I would do a couple of things:  first is to collect all the change in the cushions.  I will start collecting the returnable cans/bottles rather than recycling them.  I also have a friend that is going to collect hers so I can return them.  I am also going to use some of my stock of yarn to crochet some baby dresses and take them to a consignment shop for sale.  I figure I will sell them outright to the store so I can be gauranteed money.  I am also asking all the people that usually buy me gifts for my birthday/christmas to simply pass me some green.  ;>)  I don't get out much so I am truly looking forward to this.  I just hope I am able to save up the money between now and then.  The best part is that my sis that lives in OK is planning on meeting me there.  We haven't seen each other in five years.  I might even get to see my nephew for the first time.  (He will be 5 on July 4th.)

So this is my entry.  Thanks for this opportunity,

How to get to Mom Meet

I LOVE your idea of a contest.  My plan to earn my way to MomMeet... I have been thinking about this for days and what I am thinking is that I will use my photographic talents and try to schedule a "Mommy" photo shoot every month, I will offer beauty tips and techniques to the moms before their photo shoot, along with some free photos and I'm trying to think of an insert to include about mom meet :)  The More the merrier right?  I'm only in the begining stages of this so I dont have all the details pinned out I plan to start with my first in June :)  I will use my profits from that shoot to pay my way.  I will be driving from Minnesota and so far I will be picking up two other moms on my way that I have met on cafe mom! I am SOOO excited!

I'm adding my two cents, lol

My idea is to create a mom meet fund. Everytime I accomplish something I don't want to do I add one dollar. If I finsh that last load of laundry after the first 5 that I don't want to put away I get a dollar. When I mow the lawn, which is dh's job, I get a dollar too. I just finished this semester's final with my college courses so I got three dollaMamars there. I am hoping if i keep myself motivated and remind myself that the more I get done now and the harder I work that I can reward myself by going to the mom meet next year. I am hoping that this idea will add to my funds as well and win that gift card! I would love to be there with you greeting all these moms!

Jun. 2, 2008 at 10:06 PM I appreciate all of the votes I have received and may receive! I so want to go meet many of you and normally I don't ever spend money on myself, my kids come first. This convention will be the first time I have done anything for myself since I had my first child, so I am really hoping to win and get to mom meet. You ladies keep me going everyday, when people get me down I log on and in no time I'm feeling better, thanks moms!
