I was trying to hurry and get my bath before Abby woke up.  As soon as I toweled off, I cracked open the door and perked up an ear.  I realized that I was listening for her singing.

Do your little ones do this?  Once they wake up, before climbing out of bed or fussing for someone to come get them out --- just stay content for a little bit, singing a little song?  When mine were younger, it was just happy babbling that would come through over the monitor.  What a precious sound!

Then I got to thinking of all the times I've awakened to the beautiful sound of birds singing outside my window, sometimes before the sun has even risen!

How do I greet my day?  Sadly, it's often not with a song.  I'm ashamed to say that it's sometimes without a word of praise on my lips.  And yet the least of God's creatures knows to do this!  If birds can greet the day with a song, shouldn't I?  If these precious little ones know how to find contentment at the start of their day, shouldn't I?

Psalm 100:1,2 Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth. Worship the Lord with gladness; come before him with joyful songs.

Psalm 118:24 This is the day which the LORD hath made;

we will rejoice and be glad in it.

Psalm 98:4 Make a joyful noise unto the LORD, all the earth: Make a loud noise, and rejoice, and sing praise.

Always inspired by my children, and with God's creatures bearing witness to His Will for me, I resolve to greet the day with gladness and contentment and certainly with a SONG!!

Jun. 2, 2008 at 10:58 AM Great idea!  Why is it easier some days than others to start it off with a song?

Jun. 3, 2008 at 10:47 PM What a great post!  It's been a long time since I had little children, but this brought back memories of them waking up singing.  You are right.  It is such a sweet sound.  You are also right about how we as adults wake up with our minds going full blast, and not a minute for thanksgiving.  Thank you for the reminder.

Jun. 4, 2008 at 10:08 AM Thanks for the post! I do remember those days and it brings a sense of sadness that as our children grow up they lose that sense of feeling and appreciating God's goodness. We certainly do need to remember to start our days with those Psalms that you listed!

What an awesome post, and reminder of how I use to greet the Lord each nw day.  I use to wake up saying good morning Lord.  as I've grown older, I have grown weary and forget what the day is about.  It's all about HIM, not about me and my little greivences.

We have another chance to Praise our wonderous God!!! thankyou Jesus!!!

Thanks for sharing,
