When I logged in this morning, I noticed that the topic for the "stir people up" post is Evolution. Actually, there are a few posts about that subject. Even some arguing the other side of the fence. Here's a thought........

We get it..... you believe in Evolution. Those who do not believe in it are not gonna be convinced of it, no matter how much you talk. Move on. Same with the other side of the fence, you are not gonna convince them that Creation is true. Move on.

While we're on the subject, the same goes with the other endless "debates" that go on here everyday.

Bottle vs breast. It is every woman's choice whether they breast feed or bottle feed. All the posts telling mothers how baby formula is killing their children are not going to make them breast feed if they don't want to or are unable to. And as for using someone else's breast milk if you can't feed your baby with your own, in my opinion that is just wrong. Move on.

Abortion. Posting pictures of aborted fetuses is not going to make someone change their mind about having an abortion. If someone can have their unborn baby sucked out of the womb without a thought, I seriously doubt that a picture of a dead fetus is going to affect them. Move on.

Autism and Mercury Poisoning. Again, you either believe that your child has Autism because of the vaccination they received or you don't. No one is gonna convince anyone any different. Move on.

Christian or Atheist(or other). Not much needs to be said here. It's one thing to try to witness to a non believer, but don't run it into the ground. Same to the other side. One day, we will all find out what happens when we die..... that's a guarantee. Then, and only then, will we know what happens and whether this side was right or that side. In the meantime, move on.

Live and let live, people. Move on.

For the record, when I said "the topic for the "stir people up" post, I was not referring to the Cafe Mom journal theme for the day. I was referring to the main topic that people seem to pick out everyday that they know will stir people up. It had nothing to do with the journal theme of the day.

I noticed that the topic for the "stir people up" post is Evolution

Um, wrong, the topic was asking what gets people angry, and it was ONE person who said the thing that gets them heated is when people incorrectly state the theory of evolution to dispute a point.  Obviously you're just trying to stir the pot!!!

Thanks Kristi, you just proved my point.

Jun. 2, 2008 at 11:26 AM How was mine stirring the pot?  Cafemom asked what three things make us angrier than you can blink. My answer was "When people say If we evolved from Monkeys why are there still monkeys" because it  INCORRECTLY states teh theory of evolution, I then went on to elaborate the CORRECT theory of evolution.  It was the people commenting that came to stir the pot, not my post.

What an excellent post.  I feel, more than anything, that tolerance is more important than anything.  Living life in a constant state of discontent and argumentative readiness solves nothing.  I believe what I believe, you believe what you believe.  And, I assure you that my children will be taught that tolerance, love, and caring for others matters above all else.  If we cannot respect and embrace those with differences we miss out on so many opportunities to make new friends and enrich our understanding of life as we know it.  It's like traveling to a new country, learning a new culture...diversity is awesome.  I posted on my belief in creation today:

I agree to a point with your post.  I personally LOVE to discuss the different sides of issues.  I look at it as exercise for the brain, you know? *LOL*  However, too many people regress back to jr high and start name-calling and such and that just ruins it.

I guess next time I want to debate the diff sides of an issue I should make sure the person's threshold of anger is a lot higher! *LOL*
