This is just something i've reflected on in studying.

Some people believe that babies are born into sin and saved or baptized to be made pure and innocent again.   This is not to make those people change their mind, it's just my own thoughts on the situation.

I'm sure everyone has heard the story about the creation of Adam and all the other creations were instructed to prostrate before him (in greeting and to honor the creation of man).  But Satan, then named Azazil (a jinn,or angel), didn't prostrate because he envied Adam.  He was arrogant, feeling that he was better than Adam because he was created from fire and Adam was created from clay.

So wouldn't the first sin ever commited be Arrogance?

And what child is born arrogant?

As salamu alaikum sis,

Interesting.. i was listening to a brother lecture the othe day and he spoke of this original sin..and what he said was that Adam was not the first to commit sin rather it was Iblis (satan), the devil who committed the first sin of disobeying ALLAH and he did this by not prostrating to Adam when ordered to By Allah.. then the next sin was Arrogance.. when he was asked why he did not prostrate he said.. because he is made of fire and adam of clay... then he continued to sin by showing more arrogance and pride by not seeking forgiveness from Allah, rather he asked that he be given respite from entering the fire which has been promised to him untilt he day of resurrection and judgement.. Upon being given respite by Allah until that day, He further showed more arrogance, more pride, more sin and he bacame defiantly disobedient by promising to misguide Allah's creation because he couldnt' accept Allah's qadr of misguiding him...Subhan Allah the list of first sins commmitted by shaitan are long... Acutally, Shaitan was the first to commit the sin of racism, bias, prejudice by saying he was Better than Adam when infact we know he wasn't because Adam did commit sin of eating from that which Allah forbade but he immediately became repentful and asked Allah for forgivenss, Allah forgave him but expelled him from paradise and told him when a guidance comes to you follow it and you shall be returned to paradise.  Subhan Allah.

The history behind this sin.. is a tremendous affair indeed.
