It's amusing, the knots into which some get their knickers regarding a simple series of sounds.

"bad" words. heh.

Just one of many silly, childish superstitions.

Also preposterous is the insistence, in the face of copious evidence to the contrary, that to use blue language denotes a lack of erudition.

It's also speciously equated to a lack of maturity, which holds little validity in the absence of the juvenile notion that language can be "bad".

The poignant irony of the views disputed above is the amount of bile spewed by their disingenuous source on a regular basis.

Jun. 2, 2008 at 2:26 PM What I think is funny is that what is considered to be "bad" changes.  150 years ago, "breast" was a "dirty word".  Who really cares?  It's a bunch of sounds put together that someone arbitrarily decided was "bad".  It's ridiculous and ignorant to think that the use of "bad" words is what makes someone look stupid.

Jun. 2, 2008 at 3:44 PM Words - Words - Words.  As Lewis Black says "These are the words that adults use to express anger"  That about sums it up for me.

Jun. 2, 2008 at 3:47 PM I was just thinking about this recently. You know what? Lenny Bruce was harrassed by the legal system of his time , sent to jail and persecuted for this silliness of "being obscene." He was crucified for the sin. There was a posthumous governor's pardon!!! "What are they scared of? It's just a sound. I'm not saying I'll DO those things. It's just a sound I'm making. Are you completely mad?"  They were. It was fucking hysteria, over some words in comedic context!

Jun. 24, 2008 at 10:19 AM I was watching a movie on AMC last night, and they bleeped out the word "Bitch," and then the character stabbed someone.  My husband was laughing that they thought the word was bad but that killing was okay.
