Honey, relax!  My daughter went through this procedure 29 yrs ago and yes she wears glasses, but she did just fine!  She actually had her first operation at 5 months ( Both eyes )  Then at 2 she had one done again.  Both times were scary and I was a wreck!  But as I said before, she did fine both times.  If you need to talk I am here!  Take a deep breath, I will be praying for you also.

It will be ok!

Love

I'm not sure about what the exact procedure is that your talking about but i'm a young mother and a nurse as well and I can't say that I know what your going through but I can only image. From what I understand about eye procudures in children there are always risks involved but like one of your other frineds said on here it usually turns out fine once the procedure is over, children heal and bounce back very quickly. Just make sure you get all your questions answered by the physician performing the procedure and be aware of what to expect during the healing process and what the possible risks are. you always want to be as informed as possible especially in healthcare. I hope this helps. talk to you soon.

I have a friend that I have known since 2nd grade.  She is married to a great guy, anyway, when he was little he had to have that same eye surgery and now they have two little boys and one baby girl.  Their second little boy also had to have the same surgery.  I know my friend was very upset and scared and concerned, but her husband really wanted him to have the surgery because he had been through it before and he knew it was the best thing for him.  Now that little boy is doing great and looks great and there are no visible scars!  My friend's husband does wear glasses, but as for now the little boy doesn't have to, but that may change in the future.

I know this is scary for you, but I just wanted to let you know that I know two people that have had great success from this surgery, so I hope that helps to relieve your fears.  I don't know what to tell you about how to tell your older daughter, but I'm sure it will all work out just fine for you.

Jun. 16, 2008 at 11:27 PM I know what you are going through. My son is having problems now with his eye. It is only one of his eyes right now though. It is from his hydrocephalus (water on the brain). We are trying the patch and glasses for a couple of months and then we go back and see how it is helping. We haven't had any luck keeping the patch on yet and we go to pick up his glasses tomorrow but he doesn't keep anything on his face or on for the most part of it. My son was premature and has had many problems in the last 2 years and now we have another one on the way and I am scared. Where are you going for the surgery? Who is the doctor? We having been dealing with doctor in wichita a lot. That is where he was born and has had all his surgerys as of right now. He just had tubes put in his ears almost 2 weeks ago. If you want to talk I am here. Just email me and I will get back to you as quick as I can. It is nice to find a mom not that far from me too. Talk to you soon. I will be praying for your little girl and your family.

Is the name called Laser Surgery?  If so, it is a breeze.
