I can't believe he's really gone. It still feels like a dream. I haven't heard anything about a funeral yet but when that happens i know it will really hit me. I just feel like calling him and i know he will pick up but he's gone and i cant bring him back. I dont know what to do with myself, my thoughts about life has changed completely. Live everyday like your last because you never know when you will be gone. I'm in denial mode right now i dont want to believe it yet. Im not ready to let go...

A Houston County man accused of fatally shooting a man Friday and dumping his body had reported being carjacked Saturday, a sheriff's investigator said today.

Kevin Wayne Faulkner, 33, of Perry, is being held in the Houston County jail without bond on charges of felony murder and aggravated assault, said Capt. Robert Clark, head of investigations for the Houston County Sheriff's Office.

The body of Emmanuel Antonio Dawson, 22, of Warner Robins, was discovered east of the railroad tracks along the shoulder of Houston Road off Ga. 247 just after 6 p.m. Friday by a passing motorist, Clark said.

Early Saturday morning, Faulkner reported to Fort Valley police the carjacking of a blue Chevrolet conversion van in Warner Robins, and Fort Valley police alerted Warner Robins police, who in turn contacted the sheriff's office, Clark said. The van is registered to a family member of Faulkner's but Faulkner uses it, the investigator said.

Authorities recovered the van at a gas station on U.S. 341 in Fort Valley and found traces of blood in the passenger seat, the investigator said.

Faulkner told authorities that he was giving Dawson a ride when they stopped at a Warner Robins convenience store and a third person got in the van, Clark said. Faulkner told investigators that the third person carjacked the van, dropped Faulkner off at a Fort Valley hotel and then the man drove off with Dawson still in the van, Clark said. Faulkner was arrested about noon Saturday, Clark said.

Faulkner is accused of killing Dawson in a drug-related robbery, the investigator said.

Dawson was shot once in the head with a small-caliber handgun, which was not recovered, Clark said.

Investigators believe that Dawson was dealing illegal drugs and Faulkner was a repeat customer, Clark said. Faulkner was identified by Dawson's friends as having purchased drugs from him, Clark said. Faulkner is accused of shooting Dawson inside the van within an hour of when the body was discarded in Kathleen, the investigator said.

Although an official autopsy report has not yet been completed, Dawson likely died shortly after being shot, Clark said.

Authorities had a description of a blue conversion van seen in the area of where the body was found, the investigator said. Faulkner has changed his story several times but has maintained that he did not shoot Dawson, the investigator said.

Authorities are asking that anyone who may have seen the van after 4 p.m. Friday to contact the sheriff's office at 542-2085 or 542-2080.
