Well on Jan 31 at 6:30 pm the contractions started. When I called Jeremy at work he came home right away and didn't get to the hospital till 9:30 since it was an hour drive. I walked in dilated to 6cm .At 12 am I was told that I had 30 min to give birth before they did a c-section. At 12:38 am on Feb 1 Elijah was born weighing 2lbs 3 oz.13 weeks early. I was only dilated to 9 cm when I delivered. They didn’t know till he was born that I had a placental abruption. He did cry right away but they still had to put him on the vent. At 6:30 the mentalist came in and told us that he needed to life flighted to University of Iowa Children’s Hospital. So about 9 they took off with him and I was discharged at 11:30 and in a car for the three hour drive to Iowa City from Waterloo. I don't recommend that to anyone. When he was 10 old they took him off the vent and put him on CPAP. After a couple of days they put him on nasal conula. After 57 days there he got transferred back to Waterloo. On April 18 he got to come home but that was short lived. He had to go back on the 22nd with sepsis infection. He stayed till April 28.

He suffered a grade 4 IVH bleed on the left side of his brain. they wont know for 2 years what that outcome of that will be. He also suffered RDS since my dr didn’t have time give me steroids. A PDA and thickened septum in his heart and he has had sepsis multiply times. He got 4 blood transfusions so far. He is peripheral blind in his right eye.

I did pump my milk for him but I was all dried up before he could nurse.

We had a nurse that came 1 time a week  and he has dr appts all the time it seems like and therapy sessions 3 times a week.
