Hablando de todo un poco

Little bit of this, little bit of that!

I did it.  It worked out wonderfully: we're happily married and have a gorgeous son.

Needless to say, I was pretty excited to hear that that was the topic of discussion on the radio this morning.  Yes!  My chance to call in and tell my story!  I'll finally be heard on the radio.

So I dial.  Ring.  Ring.  Ring.  Finally, someone answers!  I let them know that I'm calling regarding today's topic and give the nice receptionist a couple details of my story.  Ok!  Please hold.

Sure, I'll hold.  I'm holding and thinking of the most articulate way to tell my story without sounding like a clutz.  Most people that call in to radio stations sound complete discombobulated.  Not me.  I'm going to sound GREAT!  Still holding.  Let's see, I can tell them about our first date and what a gentleman he was.  I can also tell them how mature and discreet we were about the whole thing, unlike others that make totally obvious and uncomfortable.  Wow.  I can't believe I actually got through to a radio station!!  Why can't I get through when I want to win tickets to a show or something?

Oh Lord.  What am I doing?  In just a few seconds, a gazillion people are going to hear me on the radio.  Somebody might recognize my voice!  I'm much too shy for this!  I'm not ready!

I hung up.

Perhaps I'll try it another day.

When I was about 9 or so, my dad called a radio station so I could tell a joke.  I messed it up SO badly, it was ridiculous.

A few months ago, my local rock station was discussing whether or not virgins could have STDs, and apparently they didn't know.  Considering I've done extensive research on STDs and sexual education in general, I called in on my cellphone and explained it.  Afterwards, they asked on the air how old I was (at that point, 22).  They were in complete shock.  It was amusing. :)

Considering my phonecall to Briar's husband the other day, I know exactly how you felt, LOL!
