Kristapista's Journal

My thoughts, reflections and dreams..

We have more clothes that we know what to do with for our 2 year old. We were going to keep them until we have another baby but it's getting to be tooooo many!

Any way... even though I am a seasoned garage saler myself... I don't know how to price stuff. I don't want to GIVE it away but I am also not looking to mark this stuff so high that people walk up, laugh, and leave. I've been to a few sales this year where I've done that myself.

Here is what I have: Mostly Children's Place and Old Navy clothes with a mix of Gymboree. What would a fair price (for garage sales) for shirts, sweaters and jeans/pants? Would I be crazy to ask $1.00 for shirts $2.00 for the nicer sweaters and $3 dollars for the jeans/pants(name brand only)?  They are still way cheaper than consignment store prices yet, they are nice quality clothes.  HELP!!!!! I need to get rid of some of this stuff!!

The sizes are newborn -18 months.  If that helps... I won't be offended if you say I am nuts.. that is the reason I am asking!

 Thanks!!

i realize that you want to make money but most people want something for nothing inlcuding my self... i think i would make 3 seperat boxes

-shirts in one for 75 cents

-sweaters in another for 1.50

-pants in another for  2.00

hope that helps.. just thinking what i would go for

Jun. 2, 2008 at 8:01 PM Yes, I agree with Oliviasmommy502.   Maybe on the name brand jeans I'd price them $2 but the shirts and sweaters I'd go cheaper.  People are looking for big bargains at GS!  If you want to try to get more out of them, I'd try to sell them on Ebay as a LOT, you might get more for the name brand stuff.  Just my opinion, as I used to do garage sales alot when my kiddos were little to find them clothes, however the older they get it is too hard to find anything decent enough at a GS at a good price.

Jun. 2, 2008 at 8:56 PM Ok.... you convinced me! I just know when I garage sale...I won't pay rediculous prices either and I want it to be GONE. I have like 9 plastic totes full of clothes that I need to get rid of!!! So, I'll price it as you have suggested and hopefully will not have much left in the end!

Jun. 2, 2008 at 9:44 PM hey, whatever not so great stuff you have and just want to get rid of, you can do a fill a bag for $5. you'd be suprised how far that will get you too!!! Just keep it close to you and away from the good stuff. I have always had luck selling the things you suggested for 3 and under. The really nice dressed and pretty things (sets) went for at least 3. The good jeans and things 1~2 like yous and. I think your prices sound more than fair!!! I soneed to have a garage sale!!!:):):)
