OK SO I LET MY LITTLE PRYNCESS GO TO MY EX-MIL'S HOUSE THIS WEEKEND..AND OF COURSE LIKE ANY NORMAL PARENT I CALL TO CHECK ON MY ANGEL AND SHE'S SCREAMIN FOR DEAR LIFE FOR HER PACIFIRE..SO I ASKED HER "WATS THE MATTER? DOES SHE HAVE HER "NANI" BECAUSE THATS WAT JAIDA CALLS IT..SHE SAY'S NO IM NOT GIVING IT TO HER..IT'S ABOUT TIME YOU TAKE HER OFF OF IT SHE IS A LITTLE TO BIG TO BE ON THE PACIFIRE ANY MORE SO WHEN SHE IS AT MY HOUSE SHE WILL NOT HAVE IT" I WAS A LITTLE PISSED OFF NEEDLESS TO SAY BUT I DIDNT LOSE MY TEMPER...THE NERVE OF HER TO TELL ME WHAT TO DO WITH MY CHILD....ALTHO I HAVE BEEN THINKIN ABOUT TAKING HER OFF OF IT BUT IM SCARED TO...SHE LOVE'S HER "NANI" AND STILL I THINK SHE'S A LITTLE YOUNG I MEAN SHE JUST TURNED A YEAR OLD...I WAS THINKING OF DOING IT MORE ALONG THE LINES OF 14-18 MONTHS WELL BASICALLY MY KID WILL NOT HIT 2 YEARS OLD AND STILL BE ON A PACIFIRE THATS WAT IM SAYING BUT REALLY IM SO SCARED TO TAKE IT FROM HER BECAUSE SHE LOVES IT IT'S LIKE HER BEST FRIEND...AND SINCE SHE ALREADY HAS ME POTTY TRAINING THE POOR CHILD ( WHICH SHE IS DOING VERY WELL WITH SHE POINTS TO HER POTTY AND TRYS TO SAY PEE PEE WHEN SHE HAS TO GO AND SCREAMS WHEN SHE'S WET, I THANK GOD FOR MY EX MIL IN SOME CASES) I THINK ITS JUST TO MUCH AT ONE TIME FOR MY LITTLE PRYNCESS...WOULDNT YOU SAY SO?? BUT I GUESS WHAT IM ASKING IS WHEN WOULD YOU SAY IT IS A GOOD IDEA TO TAKE THEM OFF THE PACIFIRE? AND WHAT DO YOU DO WHEN YOU MIL TELLS YOU WHAT TO DO WITH YOUR CHILD? I DON'T IN ANY WAY WANNA OFFEND HER BECAUSE I KNOW HER INTENTIONS ARE GOOD BUT IT'S LIKE UGH! SOMETIMES LET ME BE HER MOTHER!

Jun. 2, 2008 at 8:49 PM Girl, I would be furious.  I wouldn't go by the "my house, my rules" gig.  I would say "my daughter, my rules" simple as that. Plus, she is not to old for a pacifier. MY son is too old.  He will be 3 in July and he still sleeps with his paci, most of the time.  I honestly think he is weaning himself because he doesn't use it all the time.  Anyway, let the girl keep her nani for a little while longer if YOU want.

My MIL never tried to interfer in how I potty trained my children or whether or not I took them from their bottles or pacifiers, she knew she better not go there.  She may have disagreed with what I done or how I did it, but she realized it was my child and I would do what I thought was best for my child.

I would never let one cry and get so agititated as your MIL seems to have done.  There is a way to do things without causing so much stress for the child also, you just have to find your own way.  She isn't the authority on child rearing.

Jun. 3, 2008 at 11:09 AM We just finished weaning our Jaida.  It was hard the first couple of days, but it eventually got better.  Jaida was hooked to her “bo-bo” too.  Nights were the hardest.  I think your Jaida may be too young. It depends on her.  Heck, she just turned 1, so she still needs a lot of comfort.  You make the decision and don’t let anyone else tell you you are right or wrong.  Granny needs to pump her brakes.  LOL!!  Try it for one day and see how she reacts.  She may be ready.  But potty training and binkie weaning at the same time is hard.  Shucks, we haven’t even started to potty train Jaida.  Man, I need to get on the ball.  Good luck.  Hugs to baby Jaida!
