I just heard on the news tonight that the GM plant in Janesville may be closing. I don't know anyone who works there personally, but the shut down of the plant is going to affect everyone in Janesville and the surrounding area. I'd say about 90% of the population here is employed by GM or other factories that are related to GM, such as Lear Corporation, which manufactures GM's seats. With the economy in poor shape as it is, this spells near doom for Janesville. It's just scary to think about. Our GM plant here manufactures mostly SUVs, and because of the gas prices being as high as they are, SUV sales have plummeted. It hurts to even think about what this may mean for poor Janesville and the outlying areas.

I knew this was coming.  They've been discussing this for a year and a half or so now.  But it doesn't make it any easier to hear.  I'm scared.
