I woke up yesterday morning to my baby puking in my hair!  She had been fussy before daylight, and I took her into bed with me.  About an hour later my hair was full of vomit.  She is 8 1/2 months old, and this was the first time she had ever thrown up.  She was so scared and freaked out, she couldn't stop screaming.  I carried her into the bathroom to clean her up, and she threw up again.  I got her cleaned up, tried to get her calmed down, but she threw up again.

I took her outside and sat on a lawn chair, and the fresh air and birds greeting the dawn seemed to work to calm her back down.  Well, at least to the point that she was not screaming and her hands and feet got their color back.  I was so scared, though, to put her down because I was afraid she'd throw up again.

Of COURSE this had to be the weekend that my husband is out of town again.  Our older daughter threw up the entire weekend two weeks ago.  Now the baby.  And there I sit, on a lawnchair in my underwear with vomit in my hair.  Somehow, that was the worst part.  I could not help but cry, that I had to sit there covered in puke until I was confident enough to put the baby down and wash my head.

These are the days that being a mom really takes on that whole new level of meaning.

On a positive note, I got a prescription for Phenergen gel called in by our pediatrician after my oler daughter was all better.  Would have been nice to have had it when she and her brother were puking their guts up, but at least I found out about it and had it on hand for the baby.  I got some gel on her abdomen and wrists after she threw up the second time, and within a short time her nausea was gone, and it has been about 40 hours since the last time she was sick.  I am SO happy we had that medicine.  The baby is feeling much better, and I did get my hair washed out.  Lather, rinse, and REPEAT!

Jun. 3, 2008 at 12:24 AM Oh no!  At least it was baby vomit.  My hubby has vomited in my hair in the middle of the night.  Not on purpose of course but still, it was pretty gross.

Hope the little one is feeling better now.

Yes vomit in the hair is always a wonderful thing...especially when you have to sit in it.  But we do what we do for out babies cause we love'em!
