Omg, I'm getting so excited!!!  We've been waiting to schedule our travel date to Japan until I could get my 2nd cataract surgery (I was born with cataracts in both eyes and had one eye done this spring, just one to go!) and all the follow up appointments for it scheduled, which I did today!  So this afternoon I booked the tickets for me and Gwennie to San Diego, where we'll spend a couple days with a couple close friends, Alex and Evie, and from there we'll be off to Japan!  Charles has the day off tomorrow, so he can go to the travel office and TMO and schedule the movers to come and arrange for our flight from San Diego to Japan, hopefully for the 22nd or 23rd if all goes well.  So just three weeks and we'll be in Japan-land with Daddy!!!

A lot's got to happen between now and then of course.  I've got my cataract surgery (outpatient, virtually negligible recovery time, it's not too bad), the follow up appointments to go to, a dental appointment, and Gwennie has some doctor's appointments to get her shots all caught up before we leave.  Then a few days with Aunt Evie and Uncle Alex, which will be really nice!  Evie's dad helped her buy her own condo after graduation (they'll split the profits when she resells it in a couple years when Alex either leaves the Marine Corps or gets stationed elsewhere, so her dad'll probably make some money off it too), so she's got her own new place I want to see.  And Alex, who was around almost as much as my husband was while we were in Virginia at TBS, has been deployed since November and is just now getting back.  So I haven't seen him in ages and of course he hasn't seen Gwennie since before she could crawl!  It's going to be a shock to him to see her running around and jabbering so much!  But it'll be really nice to see them!  Evie graduated with me in May and has been around on almost a daily basis all year, so I really miss her now that she's across the country!

And of course I've got a to-do list a mile long and just three weeks to get it all done!  I need to take my car into the shop to get the oil changed and find the seal that's letting rainwater in when it rains, my younger sister's going to have my car while we're in Japan and I want to make sure everything's working right before she gets it.  I've got to go through my closet and take a ton of stuff to Good Will, finish sorting all Gwennie's outgrown baby stuff and decide what's worth keeping for the next baby and what I want to get rid of.  And there are some things I want to pack myself rather than trust the movers to pack (especially my books, which are going to be packed under Charles books since virtually all of his count as "professional material" and don't get counted in our allotted shipping weight!).

But that's about it!  It's almost here!  And even though I know we're going to have to stay in his quarters in the BOQ (he's got kind of a suite with a separate living room and bedroom and everything) I can't wait for it to get here!

Oh, and Charles got promoted to 1st Lieutenant a few days ago too!  Hurray!!!
