I used cloth diapers for both of my kids. To tell you the truth it really is a lot of work. My first child was a boy and it worked out ok. I would shake out and poo in the diaper and rinse it in the sink and place it in the diaper pail. I washed diapers every day. With my second child I was able to wear them on her for a very short while because she would break out in a terrible diaper rash. I switched to disposable as they let the moisture stay away from her during naps and bed time.
I use to but the diapers at walmart and I also bought the rubber pants the fit over the diaper to protect the bedding. I have no idea how much they cost to buy today. Good luck to you

Jun. 3, 2008 at 4:02 AM I know you can buy them at walmart or a babies r us. I would like to compliment you on going green and helping the enviroment, less trash and in the end you will save money it was around $20 for a box of huggies and it only had 96 dipers and I went through 2 boxes a month so you figure 40 dollers a month for three years or cloth dipers I wish you good luck your a brave woman

Jun. 3, 2008 at 7:14 AM I used a diaper service. They came and delivered clean diapers and took the dirty ones away. The diaper service man showed me what type to pick, how to use them and it was so easy. The diaper service didn't even expect you to clean the soiled poop diapers. All we had to do was put them in the hamper they provided and off they went and clean ones came back.

Jun. 6, 2008 at 11:43 AM Walmart and babies r us diapers suck! No offense, but they do. I will never use them. I get 99% of my diapers on The point of a cute fitted is that it's cute...I have lots, but I always put a cover over it. A LOT of moms don't use a cover for just around the house. You have to keep an eye on it then and change it after dampness, but that's what they do. I just like to have cute dipes just because and because their resale value is pretty good. If you are washing diapers everyday, then you are setting yourself up for failure. I have 10 pf's and then I decided I don't like them, so I have about 15 fitteds. I have a lot of wool, which is SUPER cute and I LOVE it! I have a few fleece things, too. That's another thing about cute fitteds. If you have wool or fleece items (longies, shorties, skirties, soakers) then you can put on a cute fitted and then the pants or whatever and that works as a cover. Clothes and a cover in one :) Wool is EXPENSIVE, though so you have to watch DS a lot for good deals. Unless you knit. In that case, I'll be placing an order with you :)

Jun. 6, 2008 at 11:45 AM Oh, and I don't know what's so hard or "brave" about cding. It's exactly like a sposie, you just throw it in the washing machine instead of the trashcan. If you don't want to clean out poo, use flushable liners and then you just dump that into the toilet.

Jun. 20, 2008 at 12:59 AM I use gdiapers. They are a hybrid between cloth and disposable. The outside is cloth, there is a plastic liner and the part that gets soiled is flushable. Go to for more info. They have a great "how to" video on the website. Some people use cloth instead of the flushables. There are sites that sell cloth inserts that are the exact size for gdiapers. I guess search gdiaper cloth diapers on google and you should be able to find the retailers for the cloth inserts. They are not produced by gdiapers, but they do fit. Good luck!

You can use WAHMS(I see you're talking to one allready):)
I Love PUL Outters(no prints) and since I had a girl,I went through alot of pastel.

Newborns,I used LOTS OF prefolds and covers(DON"T need many covers,if you snappi a prefold, and IMO NOTHING beats a cute prefold all snappi'd up) you can dye it yourself with dylon:) if you want more color(even though clean whites rock too):) I love everything.

Fitteds,I love little Beetles, and their lil wool shorts. They ROCK.Trust me here...Let me see if I find you a link..hold.Well,I can' do a google search.Once they hit 3-4 mos I started adding more diapers to her stash.I did have newborn, and smalls fuzzi bunz and muttaquin diapers(

there is such a plethora of diapers, wahms, do not need to buy "name brands" because wahms do an awesome job.

Etsy, and the other one(forget the name now lol) have a LOT LOT Of moms who make Beautiful diapers.

I love fitteds.
I enjoy using prefolds and snappis..over cute covers..they work VERY well.If you want to splurge.get an organic Bamboo prefold:)(but only uses pins)

If you have money to spend, try some good mamas:) buying diapers with a good name, you always make your money back for resale value..and it lasts till they are toddlers:)

I seen sites everywhere..I like to shop at

I bought my prefolds at

ALL these mamas will give u a first time discount,I think MOST will LOL (that own stores)

DEFINATELY stay in touch with cloth diapering mamas,u learn and find out so much information!

Btw,many sites have cloth diaper 101..(U can google that too):)
way to go

btw,i have g diapers, and lots of the inserts(that came with it) I do not really use it anymore.I will, but I Love regular cloth 100% more, and G diapers their velcro's are just not GOOD quality.I find their diapers poor quality,JMHO.

SOME love it,but I don't anymore.

If I use sposies I use tushies now.I will not use dioxen,etc..on my daughter ever again.
