As many of you know, I went on my dd's band trip to Florida. On our way back, we stopped at a McDonald's to get something to eat and bathroom breaks. I am not sure the name of the town, Only that it was just south of Cordele, Georgia. It was 10:30 pm. We had a bus load of about 40 high school kids. When we got up to the door, it was locked! The sign said they closed at 1 am. There was customers inside. One of them opened the door for us. When we got inside, we stood there for longer than 10 minutes and they still did not take our orders. They kept ignoring us.
Our band teacher, Mr. R, stepped up and asked the manager why they weren't taking our orders. She said I can't do it, I am too busy and there is not enough of us working. They argued about that for a minute, then Mr R asked her why they locked us out. She said she didn't know about that! That the door was locked when she got there. Meanwhile, one of the customers was saying, "forget about them! just get our food"!
We left there and went about 25 miles up the road to Cordele and got served at their McDonald's.
I cannot believe they refused to serve us! I don't know if it has anything to do with it, but The workers and the customers were all black and we are all white.
