I thought I had some more time, but apparently not.  Julie is having drama at school over boys already!   She has a crush on this one boy, she blabbed it to some friends (that'll teach her), and one girl said "Everyone already knows, it's kind of obvious, but he likes Soandso".  Plus some of the girls were teasing her. So she came home PO'd and crying.

I told her that she needs to keep these things to herself if she doesn't want her feelings hurt. I told her she should start keeping a journal, and that the only 2 people it was safe to talk to about these things is myself and her BFF.   I asked her if she had ever picked on anyone for having a crush and she said yes.  I think I made my point there.  I told her that someone else would do something in a day or so and they would all forget about her crush, and if nothing else happened, they would all forget about it over the summer.  I also told her that really, she has nothing to be embarrassed about because it's NORMAL to have crushes on people, and I pointed out that most of her little girl friends probably have or had a crush on someone as well.

Plus I bought her her first deodorant the other day.  She doesn't NEED it, but she wanted to start using it.  This is all happening too fast for me!  I was not prepared to talk to her just yet about how gossip hurts (although that is a great lesson to learn).  And crushes?  I don't want my little girl interested in boys just yet!  She still plays with her Littlest Pet Shop stuff (thank you Lord!)!
I am 29, been a mom for 1/3 of my life.  Not even 30 yet and I am already dealing with pre-teen issues.

I can sympathize. William had to start using deo. at 7 y/o. When watching Dancing With the Stars, I asked him if he wanted Jason and Edyta to win b/c Jason's a football player or b/c he thinks Edyta is pretty. He got all embarrassed and wouldn't answer me! I'm not ready for the pre-teen yrs, either!

Now you know how I felt when Dave and I had to get Alex a jock strap....was not ready for that since he is only 8! Dave showed him how to put it on the first time and since he has been doing it wrong, so he got a rash! Thank God Dave gets to have the "talk" with Alex before I have to have one with the girls!

Jun. 3, 2008 at 3:36 PM ((((hugs))) I know how fast they grow up...funny thing is...I'm not getting any older! LOL I have my moments when I'm just devastated to see them growing up so fast, and other's when it's not happening fast enough. LOL I just keep trying to tell myself to embrace each stage as it comes, because it goes before you know it.

And who's Norwin?? Sounds like a good story:-)
