He has been through hell...he grew up with a physically, emotionally, and verbally abusive "father" (until I left when he was 10)...went through a really, really rough time, when I didn't know if we were going to get through it with both of us still alive...lol. He has grown into such an awesome (almost) man....he will be 18 in 2 months.

He has his baseball banquet tonight...he is recieveing 2 awesome awards...2nd team all conference and honorable mention all district. He is such an awesome baseball player...his brothers all watch him and just say wow...my 3 y/o does everything he can to be just like him. He has pretty awesome grades and has recieved many, many letters from colleges trying to recruit him for baseball or football. His friends' parents tell me how much they like him and how they don't worry about anything when their kid's are with him...(talk about a chest puffing moment!!).

He also just told me the other day that he was voted team captain for football...the old coach came to him last night at his baseball game and told him he is confident with him as captain, the team will be motivated and might actually do something this year.

Next month, he is going to the Toledo Mudhens baseball game and doing a homerun derby with other high school kids...I don't care if he wins it or not...just seeing him on a minor league baseball field will be so awe inspiring...it is his dream to play baseball on a professional level...and I think he can do it (my grandpa played on the Baltimore Orioles farm team...). I am sure grandpa is looking down and smiling on him...:)

I can't wrap my head around the fact that in 2 months he will be an "adult" and will be going to college in a about a year....it just doesn't seem possible.

Jun. 3, 2008 at 10:14 AM He's a fine young man and that speaks VOLUMES about both of you - you as mother for instilling in him teh strong moral compass he has, as well as his drive to succeed and achieve his goals (again when your mom believes in you and your dreams with all her heart and soul it makes it easy to "go for it" with that kind of back up!  You deserve to proud of him - he is an asset to your family and will surely be make a wonderful contribution to this world.  Its fabulous that he has the opportunities through sports to play the games he loves and to receive a top notch education in college as well.  We have a Philly's farm team that play locally (Lakewood Blue Claws) if he eventually plays for a farm team let me know which one and we will definitely catch him in action with pleasure!
